DS8 is really in to pin collecting now. We have a trip coming up in February and I'd like for him to have some new pins to open Christmas morning.
I don't mind paying the price I would pay in the parks, and have NO interest in ending up with possible fakes.
So that being said, am I limited to the Disney store online? I don't mind if I am but there isn't a ton of selection so I was just wondering if there are other legitimate and reputable places to buy them online without having to worry about fakes.:)

If you know what pins you want, I believe it is possible to just call Disney merchandising and have them shipped. They were very helpful in finding something that they were selling at the parks and getting it to me once. I'm not sure how you would find out what the selections were though.

Thank you for the suggestions! One of the things he wants to collect is a pin from every resort we've ever stayed at over the years. The other is Figment pins. Both should be somewhat easy to get started with.:)

Something I learned the hard way, if he is going to want to trade the pins you might not want to get ones he will like or want to keep.

Pigletto, fellow Canadian here and shipping from disney is pricey. I am going to be in WDW Dec 13-21. If you know a specific pin you are looking for, I would be happy to pick it up for you and ship from WDW (it shouldn't be too much, just not sure if it would make it in time). PM me if you are interested.

If you are looking for pins he can trade, Mouse pins is a GREAT alternative to Disney. The pins are very reasonable. All are Disney pins or you can send them back. I have ordered MANY times and I am always happy. Never had a bad pin. For Oct you get a free lanyard with 25 pins.

Just ordered last week for stocking stuffers. We are planning a trip for the spring and thought this would get my kids in the mood to trade.

My kids LOVE to trade so if you are looking for his to trade I would not suggest buying pins he wants but traders that he can use to find new favorites with while he is there.

i got some fakes from mousepins and they started out by selling propins.

Disney shipping is horrendous in the us! Maybe you could get your fellow canadian to pick you up one of the packages of pins there for trading. There usually are several options available.

Maybe someone could hit a Dis Outlet store down here for you?

Before we went to DL back in 2006, I bought a ton of pins at the outlet in Vegas---I spent maybe $100 and got about $600 worth in pins. DD had pins to keep and trade forever!

Did the same thing here last year, at the outlet in St Augustine. Bought $60 or so in pins (4 pack of Jonas Bros pins for $4--why, yes thank you) and the kids traded those.

I didn't know there was an outlet in st. augustine! good information on this board.

Unfortunately it does seem that MPO is sometimes sending a scrapper, I stopped ordering from them when it started to become an issue. If you follow the link in my signature it will take you to a HUGE (really massive lol) thread on pins for sale, it's focused mainly on eBay and avoiding scrappers. The thread owner isn't around much anymore so I always suggest reading the first 1-5 pages and then skipping to the last 10 or so, there is a wealth of good info there including good sellers. If I was close enough I'd go buy what you wanted and mail it to you but I'm a good 6 hours from DL and don't get there as much as I used to. :)
