disney pins...cheaper?

HI there...a year or so ago I bought a bunch of Disney store pins for like 75 cents or so at the Disney store. I saved them and my kids used them to trade at our last trip this past January. Out of all the great things to do at Disney my kids LOVE to pin trade the best..here's my question- What are the rules of pin trading- I have always used either those Disney pins I mentioned or bought traders off of ebay in lots. The other day I was at my local $ store and they had Winnie the Pooh pins- really nice actually for one dollar! (canadian!). They say Disney on the back and the little copywrite sign. They are actually as nice as the pins my kids traded for with the CM's. Would I be able to buy these for my kids to trade on future trips? In all my trips to local stores, dollar stores and the mall I have never seen any of these...what do you think? I just thought for a dollar...it sure beats paying $6.50 and $8.50 us at the parks- just to watch the kids trade them away!! Thanks in advance, and sorry this is so long...

We do the same thing for our kids (7 and 9) and their pin trading - inexpensive pins from the Disney Store are used as 'traders'. Now, our kids have only traded with CMs and the very rare kind stranger. So, no problems.

However, if they were trading with the 'true' pin collectors, I imagine those collectors would see what the kids were willing to trade away and say, 'Thanks but no thanks'.

In the end, how much the pin cost is irrelevant - its whether the two traders each have a pin they are willing to give up in order to get one!

As long as the Disney thing is on the back they should be legit!

Hi, thanks for your replies. The Dollar Store is called: Dyno mite Dollars in Ajax, Ontario (East of Toronto). Like most dollar stores they change their merchandise regularly. But two separate times now I have seen those pins. I bought a box (50)- but I believe they said they had more in the back- not positive. If I can help you locate them more- let me know.

Sorry it took so long to check back. The store is Dynamite Dollars and Bargain center at 963 Westney Rd. S. in Ajax. Their phone # is 905-686-9890. I just tried to call there now and got no answer-I think they close at 6pm. I was going to check for you to see if they had any more. Before you make a special trip- I will call tomorrow or even stop by- they are literally around the corner from my house.

Okay, I am sort of confused but here goes...I went to the dollar store this AM and they had a box of WInnie the Pooh Pins at the front- the ones I have bought already. The store owner says she has been receiving calls from people asking if she had WDW trader pins and she told them "no- only Winnie the Pooh friendship pins". Again, I am not 100 per cent sure if these are tradeable but I think so as they are Winnie the Pooh and they do say Disney on the back. Then I searched on pinpics.com and found the pin. It's #6584 and it is that pin EXACTLY on the same purple card that this Dollar store has. The reason I am confused is because pinpics says it is a limited edition 500 pin. THey have had at least 300 of them at this dollar store so far- and people are selling them on e-bay! It's Winnie the Pooh leaning on a sign that says: Friendship Day. Anyhow- I don't know if this helps- but my sister is going to Disney in a couple of weeks and she will be taking these Winnie the Pooh pins to trade. I'll let you know how it goes...

We had a lovely dinner and caught up on a few things!LOL But when I showed her the Pin, her comment "This is what got you out here?"
