despite being on the photopass website im still finding it confusing

i get the photopass right, then everywhere i go where pictures are being taken by photographers i line up and get some pics taken
those pics then wind up on a cd yeh, can i print them off when i get home ?

confused because ive been reading about how i can purchase jpegs off the website and why i would need to do that if i already own the pictures on the cd

if they are gunna say that they have copyright to my pictures that are on the cd and i cant print them off with my own printer

then the deals off yeh :confused3

they have pretrip specials available but until i understand how it works im not going to buy it

I'm no help because I've bought the US$99 offer but don't totally understand how to use it yet! It is on my list to read up about it closer to the trip :)

We used photopass at Disneyland. It wasn't worth it for us to buy the CD because we didn't have many photos taken so we just bought the individual JPEG files online when we got home - it downloads two files for each one you purchase, the actual photo and a PDF "copyright release" document.

So perhaps when they talk about buying JPEG files they're referring to people like me who won't be buying the CD but still want some photos? I'm sure the CD would have the copyright release included with it..

I also made a photobook on the photopass website and it came out really well! It did take hours but it was worth it..

I am a bit confused about how the DW one works as well at Disneyland we got the disk we had 128 photos on it and we thought it was great but it looks like you don't get the disk straight away and have to get it posted at DW.
I took the disk in to print photos and make the photo books/posters was great value.

For those who have prepurchased the CD, when you log into the Photopass website, you will find that there is a credit of the prepurchase CD waiting in your account. From memory, I think I got sent a PP card (with number) when I prepurchased and logged in to the system to create my account. Take this card with you to the World.

When you get to DLR or WDW, there will be photopass photographers (PP) dotted around the parks and at certain locations eg. Boardwalk. I believe that Guest Relations will provide with a map indicating where the PP are located. I made sure that we hit as many of the photographers as possible.

After you take a photo with your first PP, he/she will hand you a plastic card...much like a thin credit card. (If you have your prepurchase card, this is the time to hand it to the PP. If you don't it doesn't matter as you'll get the new card.) This card will have a alphnumeric number on it. When you next see a PP and want to have your picture taken, you hand them your card. After they take your picture, they will scan the barcode and the pictures they have taken will be loaded into the 'space' associated with that number. It doesn't matter if you forget to hand them the card because they will provide you with a new card. Keep ALL the cards.
You can go to the photoshops at WDW or DLR and consolidate the cards...but you can do that at home or from your resort if you want to.

Some of the PP will have special effects where they will get you to pose a certain way and the pictures will include the effect.

When you come home, log into your account and enter all the card numbers against your account. The pictures will then be loaded into that account.
I think you will have 30 or 40 days from the date of the last card/picture taken to do all your edits, borders, picture sizing etc from your original stock. Make sure you take advantage of this and save each picture in as many different versions as you want with all your edits, including the different print sizes.

After you've completed your edits, you will need to order a CD within the timeframe you've been allocated. This was the bit that confused me because I could see the prepaid credit sitting there but didn't know what to do. You do not need to go and individually select every picture..... Just order a CD and at the checkout, the prepurchase will cancel out the order. There will be an international shipping charge that you'll need to pay for at this stage, so have your CC handy. From memory this was about US$15.

Once you've ordered and paid (the shipping $15 charge), Disney will load every photograph and every version you have saved in your account on a CD and send it out to you. You should be able to track your order on-line against your account.

When you get your CD, there will be some T&C provided which effectively states that Disney gives you all ownership rights to your pictures. You can load them on your PC or take the CD to a print shop and print them out.

When you consider that ordering an individual print from Disney is about US$15, the value of the CD depends on how many pictures you end up taking. I came back with 400 pictures - may of which were duplicate or multiple takes by the same PP - and with edits, borders, effect etc...I think I ended up with about 600 - 700 pictures on my CD. When I was doing my research on this last year, some of the Brits were ending up with 4000 pictures....and were sent 6 or 8 CDs for the one prepurchase price.

If you are hitting both DLR and WDW, you just need to load up ALL the card numbers on your account. Every picture will be associated with your account irrespective of which park it was taken at.

Hope this helps.

The cost effective method I used was to get a photo pass card & got all our pictures taken.

When we got back to Australia, I logged into the photo pass website where you could preview you photos.

Without too much difficulty, I was able to save the preview pictures on my pc. I would call the pictures low res, but you cannot complain about the price :)

Initially I was confused about Photopass too. But after using it once, it's really quite easy.

The one thing I love about Photopass is the "extra" special shots you can have taken. There's a thread on here about it. But things like standing on mainstreet and having Tinkerbell in your hands; fighting with Captain Hook or holding Baby Simba at AK. I can't take those with my camera.

Also, if you are going to one of the special events (MNSSHP or MVMCP) there are additional "special" shots that are done at the events.

When you get back home, you can add boarders, signatures and other cool stuff to the photos on your photopass cards. That photo of Mickey and the kids can have Mickeys signature on it. The classic EPCOT shot (the one with the big ball) can be always remembered by a boarder with the year on it. Characters have their own special boarders and things to add in.

ok thanks for the info

we will be getting it for sure

but whats with the $15 to ship :confused3 the real cost to post a cd would be in the area of $2 or $3 :rolleyes1

nevermind thanks anyway

after some research we found that Macy's seems to have most of the stuff we are looking for

shoes for people with big feet
good plus size selection
and a whole bunch of other stuff

can i threadjack my own thread ? :lmao:

I love you PIO. I love how you are so knowledgable and wordy :rotfl:. I was thinking about explaining all that you wrote myself, but couldn't bring it together in a coherent fashion for Happy Fingers. Then I read what you wrote and I'm like:-

YEAH WHAT SHE SAID!!!!!

:rotfl2::rotfl2:.

Seriously you are such a godsend around here, the knower (I don't think that's a word but it should be) of all things.

Can anyone tell me if there is a time frame between WDW and DL, I have 2-3 weeks between my time at each place, I am wondering if I will still be able to combine the pics on to one cd?

I would recommend that before you leave either WDW or DLR, whichever one you're going to first, stop by the photoshop in one of the parks. They should be able to help you out. At the very least, I would expect that they would load your existing cards on your account. And then you should have 30 or 40 days from that date to upload any more cards. I think (but don't remember for sure) that when you get your cards from the next location and load them up that the end-date resets????

The photoshop should be able to help you out on this point too.

I just read this over in the budget board and thought we might like it over here as well:)
If you enter coupon code 254100savej it takes $25 of all orders over $100 they are entering it when they order the cd but i just put it in on the pre pay disk and photo book and it brigs it down From $149.95 to $124.95 so you are really only paying $25 for the book.
Offer expires on the 19th June.

hilarious

you posted that like about an hr after i purchased
ive just sent them an email asking if we can be upgraded to the album package using the code

see how we go :thumbsup2

I have another question - how far in advance can you purchase the advanced cd or package with the album?

Can anyone tell me if there is a time frame between WDW and DL, I have 2-3 weeks between my time at each place, I am wondering if I will still be able to combine the pics on to one cd?

Just hold onto the cards from the first place, until you've been to the 2nd place. Then enter all the codes in together. Then you should have 30 days from when you enter the codes to make any edits and order the CD.

Also FYI, you can add photos that you've taken to your account and add borders etc. But they will not show up on the CD :sad2: you have to order them separately...

Hey, Thanks for the PhotoPass Info....
Just had confirmed that we get a free PhotoPass with "free dining with Photo Pass" package
Something else I don't have to pay for.....:worship::banana::banana:

Thanks for posting this! I bought the prepaid Cd which will be a huge saving for us. We will be at WDW with my mother and father in law as well as my sister in law and her fiancé. It will be their first Disney visit and I am sure there will be loads of photos.
