Can someone fill me in on Disney photography? I hear that you don't get the CD of your pictures to print off your own pictures, is this correct?

So you don't get to pick who takes your pictures and then you don't get rights to those pictures either?

The high-res CD isn't included in their packages. You have to pay extra for it. Sometimes they allow you to trade prints in to get a discount on the cost of the disc.

Well you *can* get an HD disk of your prints, but it costs about $1k (this is on top of the $3k+ you're already paying). If you are an escape bride, you can forfeit all of your prints, and pay an additional $300 for an HD disk of all of your prints.

I am a wishes, so can you forfeit all your prints and get the disk then? I just think that is really silly that you don't get the rights to your pictures after paying all that money. Especially when you have no power over who takes your pictures!

For wishes brides this is not necessarily true. I do not believe they let you trade in all your prints and albums towards the price of the disc but they could. I think it will depend on the day they answer this question as they seem to change their minds as rapidly as the wind changes.

I was a Wishes bride this past October. We had Regina from DPS (she is amazing) and we decided to just get the high-res disc. Giving up the prints and albums gave us a discount on the cost of the disc (I believe we still had to pay $300 for the disc). The high-res disc is only good for prints 8x10 and smaller. There is also an archival disc (good for huge prints) but I don't know the cost. A lot.

We only used Disney photography for or MK shoot but this was the case. We were told it would cost $750 if we wanted to get the disc with the rights to our photos!

The amount you pay after you give up the prints and albums depends on which photo package you buy. In the past if you were paying for the most expensive photography package, you could give up all the prints and albums and get the hi-res (not archival) disc for free. Then it was $200 extra to do the same for the next largest package and $400 to do the same for the smallest package.

Alone, the hi-res disc costs $1,000 and the archival disc is $1,200. DPS has a dollar value for everything in its packages, and they use that to calculate your cost if you want to give up what's in the package and get the disc.
