Hey Girls, does anyone have anyone they recommend from Disney Photography? I've heard a mix of good and bad. I really want pictures from both my wedding and reception that's why i am going with Disney. I would LOVE to know who is great and who to stay away from!!!! Thanks ladies!

We had the most amazing photographer from DPS at our wedding just two weeks ago. He isn't up on the website but came highly recommended to us. His name is Chris Weirdo, yes I know, but that's his real name. He is absolutely fantastic. I would ask for him over and over again. He was professional, funny, quick and from our sneak peek of pictures I can't wait to see the others! If I knew how to post pictures on here I would show you. But definitely ask for Chris and Rick! They were better than I could have dreamed of.

I had Regina for my engagement pics and loved her so much that we requested her for our wedding and MK Bridal Portrait. She's amazing!

We had Rick for our Hollywood Studios Session, Magic Kingdom Session, and Fireworks Session. He was incrediable! He really got a feel for who we were as a couple. He really made the whole experience fun and magical.

I hired an outside photographer for our escape wedding but we had Amy as our Disney photographer and i really like the photos she took. Only problem was some were were looking at our other photographer since she was secondary. All the pictures were nice, bright clear and she did got some shots i really like that our outside photographer didn't get. I just wish it wasn't so darn expensive to order the cd from Disney photography, which was the whole reason we went with an outside photographer to begin with. If i were ever to use Disney photography i would request her and recommend her.

Thanks! All the advice I can get is great! It's so hard planning a wedding from NJ!!!! I feel like I have to have all my stuff together for my planning session in Jan!

Sweetie - just remember that although you can request certain photographers, DPS will absolutely NOT guarantee that you will get your selected person. One bride on here put in requests for three different people and got none of them!! Just be prepared that you may get a different photographer to the one you requested

Why have 2 photographers? If you use an outside photographer, can they photograph the ceremony and the reception?

Disney photographers will no longer shoot 2nd to an outside photographer for Escape weddings. If you have an outside photographer, you forfeit the Disney photographer at your ceremony and you can choose to have dessert party photography or a resort portrait session instead.

A lot of people have outside photographers for their ceremony and reception but also do an in park bridal portrait and you have to use disney photography for that.

Also, it sounds like OP has a theme park reception, so you can't use an outside photographer for that.

I put in a request for 3 different photographers. And got none of them. We had Joe. He was very nice and made us feel at ease. He took good pictures, but they really weren't our style, and we've had to do extensive editing to finally get the pictures we wanted. So if you're looking for very straightfoward, standard pics, Joe is wonderfully nice and does a good job. If you want any sort of artistic, non traditional, or stylistic photos...maybe not. Then again, I know that Joe did a great job for another bride. So...who knows? Everything is so hit or miss with DPS. It's ridiculous. Good luck!

Agreed I was looking at beautiful MK shoot pics today and though "Wow...I could get a shot like that...or, I could get a different photographer and get absolutely sub-standard shots. You don't really know what you're paying for." It just makes me think, how can the quality and the style differ so much from person to person? If you advertise these wonderful photos, you set the expectation that that is the product that Disney provides- and its just not (at least not all the time).

Thank you everyone, these are REALLY helpful. Please keep the suggestions coming or I would love to see some pictures!! I am a little frustrated... pictures are one of the most important thing to me for the wedding, I really want to be able to pick my photographer. I understand the "no guarantee", but at the same time, I would be sad if I picked a certain photographer b/c of their style and got someone else with a totally different style. How has anyone else been handling this? (I did notice the other girl's post a few up from here about requesting 3 photographers and getting Joe in the end. I hope you are happy with your shots!)
