Hi Everyone!

At our January custom wedding we are having the 6 hour package using Disney photography. All I know right now is that I am getting the artistic album with a choice of 50 prints and pictures on our website.

Could anyone give me a little more detail about the other choices I will have regarding our pictures and prices? For example...do we get to keep our proofs or do we have to pay for them? Do they say 'proof' on them? How much is a low def cd? high def? Any other things I should know about?

THANK YOU!!!

-Stephanie

I'll try to help some, but to be honest my information may be a little out of date since they have changed the packages so much (and so often).

You do not get the proofs automatically. You can pre-purchase them and it will cost less that way. Disney can tell you what it will cost to pre-purchase them. I think they estimate a number of photos for the time you have and use a base of something like $5 a print. When you get them they are actual 4x6 prints of all your photos and do not say "proof" on them. I put mine in a small album.

I'm not sure about the cost of a low-res CD but I'm not sure I'd buy one. The images are really tiny and not really good for much more than emailing or posting on a website (and even then they are small). You couldn't print more than a 3x5 with them and that would probably be pushing it.

You can also pre-purchase the hi-res CD. I'm not sure about the price on that. I'm pretty sure the price to purchase the CD immediately after your wedding is at least $1000 (it may have gone up). But, if you can wait 3 years the price drops dramatically.

Disney now tries to accommodate photographer requests. We had Ty and he did a great job! Some other brides who have used Disney can give you recommendations on their photographers.

No matter what, you should have an idea of the kind of pictures you like. Talk to your coordinator (or the photographic services department) and tell them the style and poses you want.

Ask your photographic services coordinator (either your planner or maybe Rosie Carraba) about your options and the prices to pre-purchase things (usually thats a bit cheaper).

Stephanie, you're getting married the day after me!

You do get to keep your proofs, you dont have to buy them. I was told you get about 200 with the 8hr package. They dont say proof on them. I cant remember if they're 4x6 or 4x5 but my EM said they should fit nicely in an album, or can be given away for extra pictures for family members.

The high-res CD is crazy expensive, i was quoted $1000. After 3 years you can buy it for $500 or somewhere around there (this used to be $99 but was raised a few months ago). The CD was the main reason I chose to go with outside photography... it was frustrating to pay all that money for photography and not even own the rights to my own pictures.

my info is outdated as well and I’m come to realize our experience was not the norm

we did the six hour package we got close to 900 proofs....
we did forgo the album for a high res CD and got the small family album (believe its 15 to 20 pics)...
also we did MK photo session and these prints are included in your proofs/cd

we did get to have a meeting with and select our photographer...

the low res CD is really good for nothing....you can print 4x6 photos only and the aren’t the best, but once you get the high res CD you own your pics outright and can print from anywhere...

we also got a proof book (dont know if they still do that) but it was a binding of all the pics in 2x2 kind of collage...

Awesome! Congrats! I can't believe it's only 3 months away!

Thanks for the help everyone!

So if I am correct, it is legal to print pics from the cd, but not duplicate proofs, right?

We had a custom wedding in 2005. Disney Photography was great. We had two photographers for our wedding and reception because we wanted candid and posed shots.

We got all of our proofs and the word proof was not on them. They were 4x6 in size.

We paid for the high resolution cd. For us it was wel worth it because we used the cd to print out pictures at Sam's Club and give them to our families for special after wedding gifts. They did give us a release in writing so we could have as many pictures printed at home as we wanted. It has worked out great as well because I love to scrap book and can print pictures out as I need them. Also if you figure the cost of having reprints done by Disney it is well worth the cost. In 2005 a reprint of a 4x6 picture was 30.00 and 65.00 for an 8 x 10. I still have all my paper work from the wedding and got the information from there.

We were married on Nov 13 and started to get emails from Disney Photography around Oct. 29.

It all depends on what is important to you.

We were very please with our photos and video done by Disney.

Good Luck with planning!

Yeah...I'm starting to think this high def cd is definitely worth it...I'm glad the proofs don't say 'proof' so that I can keep those in an album, too.

If you use Disney photography for your ceremony and reception and purchase the CD and you also do a MK shoot - is the MK shoot included in the $1,000 price of the CD or do you also have to purchase the CD with the MK shoot?

Does that question make any sense?

Linda

It would definately be worth it if both your wedding day and MK shoot are included.

Linda

yes its included you can get all your events on one CD
(as in if Disney does your rehearsal, wedding, MK photo shoot)

Thanks, this is good news. It makes more sense to use Disney photogrophy if you want the MK shoot and want the rights to all your pictures.

Linda

If you do a Honeymoon shoot, those are included on the CD as well. Any and all photos DPS does for your wedding will be included. Had I known that in advance, that would have played into my decision as well.

Don't get me wrong, I absolutely adored Randy and he did an awesome job ! But it would be nice to have my MK and Honeymoon CD...just not going to pay $1000 for it.

Can I be nosey and ask what your video is actually like - does it have Disney type introduction, or anything that makes it especially Disney (aside from the fact you're married there, of course?)? I'm looking into using them but I haven't seen a fully formatted and edited video anywhere :(

I too would like to see a video by disney as well!! I have been trying to get one from my planner but with no luck!!

Ok I have a question also...on wishbook it has the smallest photo package of 6 hours. Do they have anything smaller than that that they don't advertise? I will need about half of that. All I would want is ceremony pictures and pictures after the ceremony around the resort grounds. Just wondering if that is really all they offer...

I am willing to give disney photography a go but not if I have to put out that much money for something I don't really need.

I had to laugh when you asked about the video because I have not watched it in so long.:rotfl: So I am watching some of it right now as I am typing this. The opening of the video has shots of Disney wedding items. Mickey head ribbon, glasses with Mickey and Minnie on them plus other items. We choose to have Disney music played during times when they were not using the sound from the camera. Since we were married at SBP they have shots of Boardwalk and they lake area. To introduce each wedding section of the video they have a Cindy Carriage with rings in it. To introduce the reception it was a cake topper of Mickey and Minnie. At the end of the video there is a montage of the day. We choose to have A Dream is a Wish played during this section. I hope this helps.

During our ceremony we had two camera coverage and one for the reception. We ended up buying two DVD's.

Since we only had a small group at our wedding we used the video to share our big day with family and friends at home during a reception we had when we returned.

The other thing was they were great about getting any special shots I asked for. We were married on Nov. 13 and I faxed them my photo and video shot list in Sept. I believe(before I said Oct 29 but it was before that date). I had made scrap books for the children in our wedding and asked for them to get shots of each child individually with us. We also wanted shots taken of each couple and family taken during the reception too. They got all the shots we needed.

The video shows pictures of our reception hall at BW before anyone went in. Our reception and pre-reception were held in the same location. That way we could see what it looked like since we couldn't view it before anyone entered the room.

That is all I can think of for now. Let me know if you need any other information. I still have all the paperwork from our wedding.

Oh, I'm glad I gave you an excuse to look at your video again! :) It sounds lovely - does it play as if it's a Disney Movie, if you know what I mean? I'm so worried it will be badly edited or something you see - I'm quite paranoid that the only day I look like a Princess will be missed or badly captured, ha ha. How long does yours run for? Thank you for answering my nosey questions! :)

I can't remember how long the video run so I guess I will have to watch it again :happytv: in the next day or so and let you know. They captured the families walking to SBP, the entire wedding, a lot of the reception and prereception. For the reception they caught all the major events from us entering, our first dance, dances with our mom and dad, Mickey and Minnie's visit and cutting the cake.

The video flows well. They have nice text, graphics and music that transition from the ceremony, to reception, then to other sections of the video. At the end they have credits that you creat yourself. We listed our wedding party, parents, wedding planner, and the readers from our ceremony.

My DH and I figured it was Disney creating the video so it had to be good since they have a reputation to uphold. Word spreads fast if the things they produce are not good so we figured it would be top notch with them. We put a lot of faith in them since we did flowers and everything with them. Our day turned out great and we couldn't have asked for more.

We did all our planning over the phone and by email. We could not make a site visit and things were still great. Everything was well worth the money we spent. :thumbsup2

I had no worries the day of my wedding because I knew everything was being taken care of by them.
