Disney Photographers?

I've seen lots of stuff on here about photographers but wonder if somebody could help with Q's I have on this?

Firstly, I see a lot of positive comments on certain photographers, but are these all actually provided by 'Disney'?

With our package we get 20 pics included (but sure there is option to purchase further although expensive). And can you choose which photographer you would like?

I see a lot of shots by Randy Chapman for example but have no idea whether or not he is one 'provided' by Disney. Have also seen comment that some brides haven't had the 'Disney' photography service and have booked themselves direct with the photographer. If doing this - how does that work? As sure I read somewhere that Disney have copyright?

There is little information in the planning pack - only the pricings for purchase of extra prints.

Any help greatly appreciated; the clock is ticking and lots to do!! :crazy2:

The photographer who will be included with your 'Memories' package will be a photographer from DPS (Disney Photographic Services). Randy Chapman is not a DPS photographer. Non DPS photographers can shoot anywhere except in the actual theme parks. As your wedding is a 'Memories' event, I assume it is not taking place in a park, so therefore, you can hire an outside photographer (eg. the wonderful Randy) to shoot your wedding for you.
All this said, if you hire an outside photographer, you will forfeit the photography that comes with your package, and Disney will not give a discount for unused package elements. You will also have the expense of hiring your chosen photographer. Since you hint, however, that you may wish to purchase photos over and above the allocated 20 which comes with your package, hiring an outside photographer may end up being less expensive!! I know Randy does a special 'Memories' package, which probably includes all your photos on a CD and the rights to print them - his other packages do. He is a wonderful man, excellent photographer and I cannot recommend him highly enough!!
DPS often gets less than favourable reviews on these boards, and you cannot pick which DPS photographer you will be allocated on the day (you can request, but such requests are far from guaranteed). Since their wedding photographs are so important to them, many couples opt to have chosen outside photographers rather than gamble on DPS.

Yes it does thanks so much - I have seen some of your pics (some taken at the Swan/Dolphin resort if I remember correctly?) and they look great. I guess it's a matter of contacting RC direct to check availability etc? Did you have your ceremony at the LB? Must admit I've looked at so many on here I could have got that wrong! We do have the Memories package .... if you don't mind my asking how should I go about booking RC... Thanks :)

Hi again sweetie
Yes, our ceremony was at the S/D - at the West Courtyard. Our reception meal was at Citrico's at the GF, and we finished off with drinks and fireworks at TOTWL at BLT. We were planning before the 'Memories' package came into being, but would have had too many guests for it anyhow. We ended up going with the S/D because it was less expensive than an 'Escape', and we wanted the flexibility to choose more of our own vendors than DFTW would allow (eg. cake, florist etc). I am so grateful we decided to go down the route we did. We had a perfect day, it cost us less than I expected and I had the flexibility to have the vendors I chose and as many guests as I wanted. I also enjoyed excellent communication and service from my planner.
Randy contact details are linked below. I would drop him an email or leave a FB message if I were you. You will love him!!!!

That's really very helpful. Thanks so much :)

Have so much to think about. I'm currently stressing about the marriage licence; I'm under the impression that it's quite easy to get it when out there - apparently you just purchase it from the court-house, it's almost like (for us in the UK) going to the post-office to tax your car?

Have reservations about posting things so I think this might be the best (and also least expensive) option. I think it's about $250 to do this through a third party and under $100 to buy yourself when in FLA. Personally I'd rather spend the extra cash on something else!!

Thanks again.

If you go to the bevard clerk of courts website there is an option to mail in a marriage license request at the same price as it would be to pick up at the courthouse. This is what fh and I are doing. I'm not sure how much the postage would be from the UK, but it might be cheaper than going through a third party. I never go through a third party unless there are no other options. They worry me that things won't be done properly.

Hi Ladies!

Just to throw in my two sense about the marriage license... from what I understand Disney will try to steer you in the direction to use a third party but my officiant has advised us that it's much cheaper to do it ourselves with the mail option. Just an fyi. :-)

Hi there - do you have to mail in your documents doing it that way? I don't really fancy that, as if they get lost it's pretty much GAME OVER!!

However - if it's a request so that they get it prepared on presentation of your documents for collection at the CHouse, then that would be a good option....?

Hiya, Lurkyloo has already told me that when you get out there just go to one of two local courthouses and get one, all you need is your passport and you'll be out in roughly 15 minutes! xx

Being totally honest I have no clue. The link that our officiant gave us to look at is below. Hopefully it helps! :-)

If you go to Rev. Kevin Knox's website (a beautiful ceremony is the name of his company) there's a link that talks about Florida marriage licenses. I'd put the link but for some reason it won't let me.

I've heard that if you go to the courthouse you can be there for a long time waiting so we're gonna do the mail in for sure.

Normally I highly recommend using Brevard County's Mail-away license program, but UK brides have had mixed results due to the mailing aspect. Some have no problem getting everything in time, while others have had trouble getting the documents back in time. One Australian bride had good luck with the mail-away license because she faxed/emailed Brevard county everything for approval before she mailed it.

You almost never hear of anyone having to wait a long time at the courthouse to pick up their license. The only reason we didn't just pick ours up there was that I didn't want to take an hour or two out of our busy pre-wedding schedule to drive there and back, but if you'll be in town for several days before the wedding, you'll have more time than we did.

You don't actually have to mail in any original documents, just notarized copies of them. At least that's how I understand it.

Thanks everyone I will make some further enqs. But we will probably go with purchasing the licence direct at the court house.

Anyone have directions????? We'll be at Lke Buena Vista near the Disney Marketplace. Cheers :)

We got ours at the court house, it literally took 15 mins!
So easy in fact it was the least stress free moment of the whole wedding, we actually went and had a really lovely meal back at Disney after as we did want to celebrate getting our licence as it felt special to us :)
We also worried about taking time out of our day to do it but we just hopped in a cab and was all done with in an hour and half.

Thanks so much this is so reassuring. And it's literally just passport that's required? And Decree Absolutes for those previously wed?
