Disney parts for Mr. Potato Head?

what/where is the character warehouse?

The Character Warehouse prices were I think 2/1.00. I guess they were the old stock being closed out to make room for new items. Stuff there changes all the time. Sometimes great finds from the parks, sometimes not. Always worth a trip or two up that way during our trip though as it can change from day to day. We got hoodies for a ridiculously cheap amount too compared to the parks! It is located up Harbor (go North). It's just a few minutes on Harbor. Right in the shopping strip mall on the right on Harbor and Orangethorp I believe. It actually faces Orangethorp. Search on Mousesavers.com for directions and a coupon for 10% off!!!!

Oh! And Target is located just south of DLR on Harbor on the left hand side...just a couple of blocks. Great to know if you need items you might have forgotten!!

The parts are a lot of fun, but as we learned when we got home with our haul from WDW was the parts don't fit the standard arms that come with Mr. Pot Head who was waiting for us at home, don't forget some arms.....

as for mr. potato head...so this is what i need to do, right? make sure to pick up 2 arms (right & left), and any accessories that are to be held in the hands/arm. sounds really fun. now...for those who have been there & done it...is it crazy? lots of people just shoving & grabbing to fill your boxes? i imagine a big box full of mr. potato parts & people all over trying to get near the box to fill up their little tub/box. is it something our DSs (4 & 6) can do on their own? or will they be "trampled" by people? thank you!!

I haven't been to DL, but I'm sure it's the same set-up as Downtown Disney in WDW. There is a large circular table-display for all the Mr. Potato Parts. The circle table is divided into wedges all around and each wedge holds a different part. Underneath the table are the boxes, and whole potato heads if you want. You simply grab an empty box, and walk around filling it with the parts you want. I've never been mobbed by people in the store. And yes, if you ask a staff member they can try to arrange your items so you can fit more in the box. The rule is that the handles of the box have to close properly.

They also had a few bigger pieces which could be purchased on their own. I got a flying dumbo for Mr. Potato to sit on for $3.50, and a WDW yellow raincoat which was clearing out for $1.

It's a lot of fun, and they also had computer terminals for the kids to design and play games.

If anyone had girls, WDW also did the same for My Little Pony -- princess outfits, blankets, ears, etc. Same concept of stuffing items into a box for the same price I think. Not sure if this is available at DL (?) but my girls love them.

Yes, that is exactly how it is at DL except the containers for the parts are above the table in a round display. Hard to explain, but I have some pictures here from May 05 that show the top of the display table and my mom filling a box. It's usually not crowded as it's in a shop that doesn't get a lot of business in DCA, so I've never witnessed any pushing or shoving. In fact both times I've done it, my family were the only ones there.

Not only are there Potato head parts at WDW and DL but there is also a stand at the World of Disney Store in Manhattan. They have NYC parts that I've never seen anywhere else...... pretzel is shape of Mickey head, NY subway map, firefighter's helmet, police hat that says Potato Police NYC, baseball cap that says World of Disney, Statue of Liberty crown and torch, World of Disney purse, slice of pizza with mickey heads as pepperoni, and sun glasses that have the Empire State Building in its glass part.
I can't wait to get to DCA so I can get new pieces! I am a speech therapist and my kids look forward to playing with the new pieces when I get home!

i just went to ca yesterday! took our DSs. they were so excited to pick those potato parts!! it was really fun! we got lots of stuff/parts. and it was $18 per box. not only did they have stuff around the big round thing, there were also tinkerbell stuff on another stand that was kinda off to the side. (right next to the round thing). so when you go, look around. it was pretty empty, so they might fill it up w/other parts/stuff? we were just going around the thing...looking at all the cool parts!! i wanted everything! then, when we got home, they played w/it. it was so fun!!

now we have to make a trip to manhattan to get ny parts! is mr. potato head owned by disney or something? maybe hasbro is? just wondering!

Since Mr...and Mrs...Potato Head were in the Toy Story movies, I would imagine they are owned in some capacity by Disney. The movie was a Disney/Pixar film so I'm sure they have some kind of rights.

My daughter saw me looking at these pictures, and she said, shame we can't do that! So (cruel mother that I am) I said we can if you really want to darling, but we can't buy all the nice things that we see . Woo hoo result! I thought I was going to have to buy these for myself. I have to say it is not often this parent gets one over on the daughter, and I will probably find out it doesn't work that way in the end.

Wish I'd thought of that! DH is so excited about this that I'm sure we'll be spending more than $18 on Mr. P. Fortunately he is also a master packer, so will rely on the fact that he will cram as much into each box as is physically possible. (I told him other posters said the EnginEars staff was pretty good at packing the boxes full, and he actually scoffed that someone could fit more in than he could.)
