Hello, My husband and I are hoping to visit Disney this summer with our 3 and 4 yr. old. It will be there first trip to Disney and first airline flight. Actually by July my daughter will just be turning 5 and my son will be 4 in August. I am a little concerned about how they will do in Disney with the long hot days, long lines, etc.. Does anyone think the water parks would be too old for them. I know they have a kiddie area but do you think it would be worth the money?

Our youngest ( now 4 ) has been going since 10 months. If fact he learned to walk at Disney! You will just have to go with the kids on this one. If they are tired and cranky, just stop and head back to the hotel and take a nap or swim or just relax. The heat really takes its toll on the kids so be prepared. Plenty of sunscreen and water and rest stops. It can be done, just take your time. As far as the water parks. We feel they are for older kids maybe 8-9 and up. But never been to them, I really don't know.

Hope this helps

Last year we took our three girls. At the time they were 3,5,8. They had a blast. What helped was that we took a break everyday around lunch time when it was so hot. We went back to the hotel for about 3 hrs and did the pool or took naps. This made life much easier because they were rested and didn't get overheated. Another thing that helped was we took water bottles to the park so they stayed hydrated. The more they drank, the less cranky they were. Of course that meant more trips to the bathroom, but that was way better than whining. They really didn't complain too bad. As far as the water parks, my husband and I have decided that our kids are too young to really appreciate it and have fun. I didn't like the idea of spending that much money just to stay in the kiddie area all day. Its just a personal choice that you'll have to make. Hope this helped.

Hi there :wave2: Let me start by saying that we've never been to Disney so I can't comment on their Water Partks, that said; My twins are 4.5 right now and I have a 7 yr old dare devil. We've been doing water/slide parks the last two summers. My kids LOVE LOVE LOVE them. The youngest two tend to stick to the kiddie area. The oldest goes back and forth from the kiddie area to the slides. My kids were "early" swimmers so I'm sure that makes a difference. IMO, the water parks would be worth a try in the summer. My kids were 4 and 6 last summer. We spent a total of 5 days at water parks. Best money we spent all summer!

Afternoon breaks are a must! It is so hot in July/August. My kids never, ever took a nap in Disney, but just taking a break back at the hotel and/or getting cooled off by a swim will refresh you/them so you can enjoy the rest of the day back at the parks. We have only done each water park once. They are mainly for older kids/adults, but each one does have a nice kids area and they both have a lazy river. Even if you only go for a few hours, I'm sure they would have lots of fun. Have a great trip!

I say show them the water parks on the video, and see what they think! DS (now 6) went to his first water park at age 3, and absolutely LOVED it. Besides the kiddie area, a lot of parks have "lazy rivers", family raft rides, and wave pools that they can go in with you. If they are interested, it's worth the admission, especially if you are going mid-summer.
