Hi all my budget helpers!

Can you help me spend someone else's money?

My sis is human resource at a company which has a wonderful worker who has gone the "extra mile" in the past few months - filling in for people, etc. She is heading to Disney with her husband and two younger kids in a week. The company would like to give her a Disney related gift -- any ideas??

Around $100 - $150 and they are staying off site. There are some food concerns, so no restaurants.

My first thought was water park tickets or tickets to MNSSHP. Is there a gift card for the parks? Once I goofed and got people a Disney store CG and that DID NOT work in the parks.

Thanks for any ideas!!!

why not just get her a disney gift card. That way they can buy what ever they want

I would go with the Disney Gift Card. You can buy them at the Disney store and they can be used at 99% of the places within Disney so they could use them for whatever they need/ want without you having to guess! They can also be purchased online from Disneyshipping.com, but I am not sure how fast the shipping would be.

Disney dollars are visually entertaining and might feel more like a gift than what looks like a credit card.

Real difficult to find Disney Dollars lately, though. I agree with he gift card - what a nice thought !

Love this: Visually entertaining ITA :thumbsup2

OP, I don't know your location, but if you have a Disney Store nearby, they are simple to get. If you don't have one, then it can be difficult. :goodvibes

After spending my first night at MNSSHP, I would certainly have to suggest that option!!! I have always been a fan of the MVMCP and been to that many times and will continue to do so, but I've never had so much fun at a special event as I did at the MNSSHP!!! I carried three 17 yr old girls and we had a blast!!!

Also, she may like to do a tour of her favorite park. I'm thinking I may have to do that soon!! ;)

You need to have someone casually ask "So are you going to MNSSHP? What resort are you staying at?"

If they dont have MNSSHP set up, that would be the perfect gift!

If they do:
maybe send a welcome to Disney gift basket to the room?
Embroidered Mickey Ears with their names??
Gift card to Rainforest Cafe?
Gift card for Bibbity Bobbity Boutique if they have little girls?

Can you use Disney dollarS at the BBB? At World of Disney? Those will be a sure hit!

sending them to MNSSHP could be hard. If you do not know the plans they have. You would have to know what night they would be free to go.

send the woman a nice piece of disney jewelry from qvc to wear on her trip-Or have it waiting for her in her room.:thumbsup2

disney dollars

LASTING MEMORY of TRIP and who gave them the gift: preorder photopass CD (or disney photobook) and they can get lots of pictures taken and order it on their return

certificate for a photobook on their return (numerous places)

or gift basket with autograph books, big pens, light up necklaces for the kids, maybe matching t-shirts if you know their sizes, snacks, fanny packs for everyone

I recommend a Disney Gift Card for the bulk of the gift, since it's replacable if lost or stolen, and the recipient can even add more money to it as a method of saving for a trip (if there is a Disney Store nearby, you can't add money to a card online or by phone). You can also add a few Disney Dollars to the gift for collectable purposes; a $1, $5, $10 set would be nice.

mnsshp?? mvmcp????

MNSSHP = Mickey's Not So Scary Halloween Party

MVMCP = Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Party

Both are hard-ticket events (i.e. not included with regular park admission, they cost extra) held in October and December, repectively, about twice per week in the Magic Kingdom park. During the parties, the park closes early to regular Guests and only those with tickets to the party are allowed to remain. Most of the park remains open, and special parades, fireworks, and other celebratory stuff happens. The parties each last 3 hours.

Ticket sales are limited, so the park is guaranteed to be well below full capacity, though Disney will not say how many tickets are sold. My guess has always been somewhere between 15k and 20k, but that's just a guess. Park tickets cost about $56 for adults and about $48 for kids under 10.

Party tickets include admission to the parks, but only during party hours. In other words, if you have a regular ticket but no party ticket, you have to leave the park when the party starts. If you have a party ticket, but no regular ticket, you can't get into the park until the party starts. If you have a regular ticket and a party ticket, you can enter the park before the party, using your regular ticket, and when the party starts you won't have to leave.

Just wanted to add that the parties start at 7 and end at midnight. So, they are 5 hours long. You can use your party ticket to get into the park starting at 4 pm. Adults are allowed to wear costumes to the Halloween party (it is the only time adults are allowed to be in costumes at the parks). Party special events don't start until 7 (which is when they make everyone without a party ticket leave).

We went when we were there and had a good time :-)

I would also say a gift card. I would love for my company (or anyone) to surprise me with one right before my trip! You do have to be careful though when buying them off the Disney website. There are two different ones you can get. One is for the Disney Store, and Disney online shopping and the other is used for everything. Disney store, Disney Parks, etc. So if you go with the gift card, just make sure you read which one you are buying!

Thanks everyone!! What great ideas!

And I can't believe I didn't think about the photo CD, I bought it after my last trip but it was a hard decision to make.

I showed all ideas to my sis and she is going to get the Disney Card / Dollars for WDW and in the card she will state the other ideas from this thread and end it with "or any other Disney Dream YOU would like to fulfill!" And to make it "more personal" she is getting the employees two girls Disney shirts as well.

Thanks for all the great ideas!
