Planning our first trip to DLP and want some advice...................which is better, to fly or by tunnel?!!
We are about 1 hour from B'ham airport.........how difficult is it to get from the airport to DLP?! How much would a taxi be?
Or we are 4 hours drive from Ashford...........but like the idea of being dropped off at DLP!!
Please help!!!
Also, has anyone ever been in JUne ? How are the crowds?

From Charles de Gaulle Airport there are shuttle buses to the resorts, the journey is around 30 minutes and costs about 15E. Given the distance you live from Ashford, I would fly for sure.

Just popping this over to the DLP Board :)

we live in the North East of England and have driven twice and flown twice. I quite like driving long journeys so didn't mind the driving.

the family probably preferred the flights 'cos we get there that much sooner!

the shuttle buses - already mentioned in earlier reply - are excellent. They drop you off right outside the hotel.

Overall it was probably better for all of us flying as I got more involved in what was going on during the journey. I wasn't as tired during the stay either!

Hope that helps.

I'm up in North Wales...we've driven there once and never again. It might be different by Eurostar, I'm not sure. I looked into comparing prices and with how cheap flights are now, it's much better to fly.

Last 2 times we've been, and the next time we go in January we're flying from Liverpool Airport. This time we got flights for £40pp return.

It's really easy to get from the airport to DLRP. You can take the VEA Shuttle as mentioned (just google them, they have a website), take a cab, or take the RER. Personally I would take the VEA, or if there are 4 or more of you or you arrive after the VEA finishes running I would take a cab.

CDG Airport is really easy to get through, it's not that big at all :)

Eurostar is a wonderful way to get to DLP. Now that the station is St Pancreas rather than Waterloo it should be even easier for you to get to. The journeytime should be quicker too now - used to be about 2hrs 40 to get from London to DLP and it drops you right outside the park gates!

we're planning on going by eurostar next year...

we'll be flying into London for a few days,
then eurostar to DLP,
then DLP for a few days,
then eurostar back to London,
another day or two in london and then fly back home...

that covers 3 of our interests: london (i MUCH prefer london to paris), Eurostar (my son has wanted to ride it since it began), DLP.

Eurostar is very easy and you are straight off the train into the park. Same on the way back you do not need to leave the park until about 1 hour before the train is due to leave.

We live only about a 1 and 1/2 half drive from Ashford and normally stay in Ashford the night before hand just in case there are problems on the M25/M20. So its quite convenient for us.

If I was travelling from The Midlands I am not sure if I would still use the Eurostar as I think the convenience of being transported to the door would be far be outwayed by trying to get to London or Ashford.

I flew from birmigham airport last year and doing it again this year. The flight is an hour max.

From CDG airport we get a private shuttle (www.parisshuttle.com) to Disneyland so as soon as we have our luggage we have someone guaranteed to take us there direct. (No waiting for buses or trains!!)

Last year we got the VEA Disney shuttle from the hotel back to CDG airport easy as and about £11 each. This year we will be getting the TGV back to the airport...which will be new!

We are driving there in May first time ever and must admit it will be cheaper than flying (thanks to clubcard points) but as opposed to an hours flight and a short cab/shuttle/train journey it is going to be about a 9 hour road trip... but we will be making stops along the way and visiting france en route.

If you want Disney and Disney only and you want it NOW!!! fly....:thumbsup2

(plus if you go with airfrance from bhx you land at the correct terminal for the TGV station so no transferring of terminals you land at 2F!!!:cheer2:

ps - book with Airfrance direct-Beware the search engine on the BHX.com page it uses Opodo so we unknowingly ended up booking airfrance via Opodo and not impressed with them at all.

Thank you so much for all your help and advice so far!!
OK, so we have decided to fly! First decision made!!
We'll be going from B'ham in June (weekday) and there will be me and one child (7years). Does anyone know how much I can expect to pay for the 2 of us? Also, does anyone know how much a taxi from Paris airport to DLP would be?
Has anyone else ever been in June? What is it like in terms of crowds?

Hi Debs,

Its very simple to get from Charles de Gaulle airport to DLRP. For the 2 of you, the easiest door-to-door way is to get the VEA shuttle bus. This runs every 30 minutes or so from each of the main terminals at the airport, and drops off at each of the Disney onsite hotels. The journey takes between 45 minutes and one hour (including pick-ups at other terminals at the airport and drop-offs at the Disney hotels) and the current price for this is 16 euros per adult, and 13 euros per child, each way.

The other way is by the TGV high-speed train. This isn't as frequent a service as the VEA, but can be cheaper (depending on when you book, and if you're travelling at off-peak times). The main advantage is that this journey only takes 10 minutes from the airport to Disney's station at Marne la Vallee. From there, you are right beside the parks, and also right beside the bus stops where you can get a free shuttle bus to the Disney hotels, plus a lot of the offsite hotels too.

Hope this helps,

Elaine

We flew from Newcastle Airport to Charles de Gaulle and the flight took no time to get there. Finding your way through the airports is easy at both destinations, the shuttle bus was easy to find you walked out , you might see security patrols drive or walk past, and there were signs for it the buses right outside the doors turn right and go down the ramp. There will be a bus stop at the bottom of the ramp you just let the driver know how many of you you are paying for (return ) and which hotel to be dropped at all of the luggage just slides under the bus into the storage are don't worry there will be loads of room for bags. Each Disney hotel also seemed to have a bus stop near the lobby for the return journey. The staff at the front desk can give you the pick up times for each day.We would do this again in a heartbeat if we go again.

We love the Eurostar! But having said that, we live in London so for us it's extra easy. Love the fact you get off the train and you're in the park literally. The only thing about booking the train is that you'll have to book seats over the phone to be given a family area. Even though they ask on the website, we got messed around twice and they weren't able to give us the family area. Nonsense.

But still prefer the train, its a lot easier than waiting for 2 hours at the airport etc.
