Disney Parades

I wondered that also. just posting here so I can check back other peoples answers

Someone posted on one of the other boards that they got to ride in the MK parade on their last trip!
They got to MK when they opened and were walking down main street. They stopped to ask a CM a question, got to talking and it turns out that he was in charge of picking the Grand Marshall for the parades!! :wizard:
She said that he was an older gentleman and I believe that his name was Dean...
We are going in March and will be on the look out for him! My family would be awe struck!! :worship: :worship: :worship: :worship: :worship: :worship:
Good luck....hope you get your chance too!

I'm not sure how you get to be picked, but I think they usually look for something "interesting" about your family. The last few parades I've seen have always contained a person in the family who is home from serving in the armed forces.

I would also like to know the answer to this question.

I think it completely random. I've told my story before but in case you're interested, here it is: DH and I were honeymooning in WDW and we wore our wedding ears everywhere....we were in MGM and thought about doing the Fantasmic Dinner Package so we went to Guest Relations. As we were asking, the CM asked us if we were going to be in the park at 4pm. We said yes and she asked us if we'd be the Grand Marshalls in the parade. We nearly died...we were so excited!!! She told us that a different CM gets to pick the GM family each day and that day was her turn. We had to meet her at 3:30pm where she escorted us "backstage" to the car we'd be riding in. She took our camera and followed along side the car snaping shots of us. Once we reached the end, we were allowed to stand in a VIP area and watch the parade. The characters all stopped to pose for pics with us....it was really memorable. After the parade finished, we went into a private VIP area where they gave us soda...it was really hot out! We also got to keep the sign that was on the car identifying us as the GMs, we got a frame, a signed picture of the characters and VIP tickets for Fantasmic! It was surreal, but the most awesome part was that we were totally shocked and surprised that we were chosen. Some things in WDW can't be planned and that is part of the magic :)
