I know this is a Disney forum, but my kids are 8 and 11, anyone out there think the disney cruise is still the best for kids in this age range or do another? Anyone have done both with suggestions for me?????? :rotfl2:

2 of my sons were 8 and 11 this past cruise. They were not happy to leave the ship.. (Neither were we, or my 13 y/o) They had the best time! My 8 y/o absolutely LOVED the lab-and he's a shy kid.

I can't say anything about RCCL because my kids haven't cruised with them, but I DEFINITELY prefer Disney. My friends kids have done both at this age and prefer Disney. My friend also mentioned that Disney's hours for the kid's programs are much longer/later.

Hey! We're from MA too! Can you believe it's going to snow again!!!!!! :sad2:

Chatted with DS, 9, last night that next month's DCL cruise might be the last on DCL and that we might try out another line, particularly RCCL Voyager class, for future family cruises. And the response was "Awwww, no fun" and "so there wouldn't be characters?" And that is from a boy who does not stand on line for the photo ops, he just likes having the characters on board and seeing them.

We just got back from my 7th cruise and my kids 2nd. Their first was on DCL Magic, and now we were just on RCCL's Explorer of the seas. My boys preferred RCCL by far. Here is a thread that I posted about that trip, I thought it might help

Obviously most of the people who post on this board will prefer DCL, but I have to say, we all preferred RCCL better.

Not knowing anything about your kids, I would say, if they are boys, or very athletic, then RCCL would be my recommendation, if they are girls who like princesses etc. or if the are more into quieter group activities then DCL is best.

It seemed the "get out there" theme is prevelent on RCCL ships, there is so much active stuff to do, even in the kids clubs, whereas on DCL is was much more watch movies, see the characters etc. not near as much active stuff, so it really depends on what your kids are like.

Hey, my boys are so athletic, and they will be 8 and 11 next year, so sounds RCC is better, thanks for the advice, I really can't decide cuz if I don't do disney next year, I never will,,,, cuz the kids are gettting bigger....
