My family is planning a trip in February 2009. My husband is suggesting Prague but my daughter is insisting for Disney. Can anyone giive us better suggestion which place is good for vacations. And also advice us some hotels in Prague or Disney.

I was checking this website prague.biz/hotels/hostels and was confused about rates, bed and breakfast. Kindly suggest me some better options.

Hopefully, you are also going to a Prague fan site with your question. ;)

understand your daughter wanting Disney.

but why does you husband want Prague - if for no reason just because.

then definitely go with WDW.

Your daughter will leave you one day. Your husband can see Prague when she is gone...

Not sure the age of your daughter...but...Prague!

They have real castles, great beer, garnet jewelry, lots of history, arts, quaint and beautiful European architecture and lots of day trips easily reached by trains or rental car.
also they're known for marionettes and have some shows.

all depends what you want.

and I am a disney lover. i just also love pRague.

Prague via Paris so you can go to Disneyland, best of both worlds. Having said that Paris Disney is very different to the US theme parks, not quite as much 'magic' in my opinion.
My son is 17 and he prefers anywhere in Europe over disney, I the disney nut in our family. How old is your daughter?

Very difficult question to answer when I don´t know your family´s likes, dislikes, hobbies, touring style, etc. Do you vacation often? Have you visited many other countries? Do you live in the USA? Would this be a "once in a lifetime" trip abroad for you?

I love Disney, but I also really liked Prague and will most definately visit the city again some day. We went with 3 kids who were 2,8 and 10 at the time and we all had a great time. Prague is a beautiful city with lots of history and architecture. It is very different from any city in the US I´ve ever visited. We rented an apartment for our stay there, very central and very convenient. We had a car but hardly used it at all while in the city. We came driving from Denmark and then went on to Croatia, Bosnia and Hungary. It was an awesome trip and we still talk about it a lot.

That being said, Disney is very special as well and definately not "just another themepark" (I address this in my blog, see siggy below). It is a happy place with a great atmosphere, but you have to "let" yourself experience the magic and somewhat become a child again. If either you or your husband go thinking that this is just fun for your child and that this trip is for her, you definately won´t enjoy it as much as Prague.

Do some research on both places. Try to make a rough itinerary of what you would do in Prague and what you would do at Disney and then make your decision based on that.

Happy planning, whatever you decide :)

Definitely Prague! Everyone that I know that's ever been there has said that it is awesome! Most even said that it was their favorite city in Europe when they were traveling around! (Most of these people were young people living on a budget, so that may have affected their decision in some way). But it's supposed to be very affordable.

And hey, if you can see Paris as well and hit Disney there, all the better. Paris is a beautiful city... I have been there and it's so different than anything that we have here. What a great trip for your whole family! And getting from one country to another in Europe is a treat in and of itself. Their rail system is awesome and I'm sure your daughter will love it.

You are lucky to have such great choices! I would love to do either! Good luck making the decision!

Ok - most people go to Prague for the beer. Seriously, some of the worlds best beer is in Prague. Remember Budvar is the original Budweiser. So drinking beer at the base of the castle would be great for any adult beer drinker. You kids probably don't fall in that category, so that means that you are left with sightseeing and museums (which Prague has lot of good ones) - or Disneyland. If your kids are under 12 - then it would be hard for them to get much from Prague that will stay with them as part of who they are, so might as well take them to DL, and wait for them to get older for Prague (although I found Budapest a much more interesting and exciting city).

Hi

Thank you all for your response.. I think Prague is a better place for us... prague.biz/hotels/hostels and tripadvisor.com are very useful links.
