is the swan and dolphin hotel considered disney or not? i remember b4 when it had the disney name in front of it but i dont know if it still has it

It's referred to as the Walt Disney World Swan and Dolphin Resorts. The "Disney" resorts are called "Disney's Boardwalk Inn", "Disney's Beach Club", etc.

The are not Disney "owned and operated" but Disney does own the land.

You'll find the same great theming and customer service at the Swan and Dolphin Resorts that you'd find at the "Disney" resorts, and very often the Swan and Dolphin are a cut-above!

We've stayed at the Swan in April 2001, the Dolphin in 2002, and are returning to the Swan in January 2003!

Blondie- we are considering staying at the Dolphin for 4 nights in February. (great rate $199, club level) Which one did you prefer, Swan or Dolphin? The only reason I am choosing Dolphin is because it is closer to the action (Tubbi's, etc), which is important (i think) with a 2 y/o. Do you think I am making the right decision?

Thanks!

Monica, we are staying at the Swan this time because the Dolphin was booked for a convention! I would have preferred the Dolphin over the Swan because it's more festive and has the same conveniences you are looking for; Tubbi's, Camp Dolphin, etc.

I do prefer the Swan's bathroom set-up though, and the queen beds are nice (Dolphin has doubles.)

There's just something about the Dolphin that really stands out!

The Swan is more refined and elegant and is the smaller of the two making it easier to navigate the corridors. But the Dolphin, with it's cute lobby fountain will really catch your eye!

As you enter the Dolphin from the main entrance, make sure you look up at the ceiling to see a shooting star!

They aren't owned and operated, but they can still take advantage of most of the onsite perks. Can't charge back to your room, and they don't have the refillable mug program, however. You can still go to Magical Mornings, and E ticket nights... and Disney transporation services them. The best rooms overlook the large themed pool or Epcot..

From what I hear, they have refillable mugs now (refillable at Tubbi's). Someone correct me if I'm wrong...

:)

Yes, you can get a refillable at Tubbi's! In February the cost was around $10.00, but they aren't your standard Disney mug.

They are more like the tall tumbler you see sold at Starbucks with a lid. The mugs have various photos of scenes from around the Swan and Dolphin. They're very nice and a good value!
