How young of a child would you take to Disney on Ice? I remember going when I was little but I have no idea how old I was. How long are the shows normally and do they have intermission? Any feedback from parent would be much appreciated!
Thanks!

We took DD to her first one last winter... it was either right before or right after her 2nd birthday, I can't remember.

The show was about an hour and a half long, I think. There is an intermission but it always seems to be about 75% of the way through the show. The 2nd half is always much shorter than the 1st half.

DD LOVED it but does not do well with the intermissions. She's enthralled with the show and then it stops... and then she gets antsy and her attention span dwindles. It's always a pain to keep her in her seat for the last part of the show.

The food and the souvenirs are RIDICULOUSLY over-priced. Merchandise in WDW is much better priced than the stuff at DOI. I think it cost $10 or $12 to get DD a cotton candy with a flimsy, plastic Flounder hat.

We just took our 3 year old twins to Toy Story on ice. They really did well for the first half, but it was much more exciting than the 2nd half. There was too much Barbie for the second half--longer ice dancing segments etc. but I think it was an ok use of money and afternoon.

We did Yo Gabba Gabba live the next weekend and it was a much better show for this age group.

My DD was a year and a half her first Disney on Ice. It was a princess version and she went nuts over it. That wasn't even her first show. She had been to Sesame Street live at 13 months, and sat through the whole thing enthralled without moving...and this is an extremely spirited high energy kid. She's always been a show kid though. She's 5 now, and has already sat through several full Broadway musicals (Beauty and the Beast; Wizard of Oz; Shrek the Musical; Peter Pan; Annie Get your Gun; etc.). I think it just depends on the child and what interests them. You may not know until you have tried it. Almost all the Disney on Ice shows are around an hour and half, with a 10 minute intermission.

We just took our girls last month for the first time. They are 5 and 7, and it seemed like they were some of the oldest girls there, which I found strange. I'd say 90% of the kids I saw there were younger than 5 years old. My girls loved it, I'm wishing we went a couple years ago when we had the opportunity.

Alison saw the Nemo show when she was 2. She was mesmerized, and for a long time it was one of her earliest memories. We also saw Magical Journey a few weeks ago at age 9, and she loved it, too, but I think part of the secret is going to the right show at the right age. I don't think she would have liked Magical Journey nearly as much at 2.

DD was about 20 months old for her first show. She loved it but we ended up leaving about 10 minutes early because I think she was on sensory overload. I was thrilled she sat for as long as she did. The Toy Story on Ice show we went to a few months ago was with DD4, DS2 and DN3. They all had a blast.

Thanks everyone! I wanted to take my daughter next year-when she is just over the age of 2 and it sounds like the perfect time!
I appreciate everyone's responses!
