Disney Off the Brain

Well I'm having an interesting summer. I returned from our great April trip to spend some time at my dad's beach condo giving it some long overdue TLC. A new AC, microwave, sliding glass doors, new computer station (desk, printer, bose speakers, wireless broadband hookups) and living room set later (yes you can easily drop $10k on upkeep of a second vacation home), my entire family seems to be immensely enjoying Ocean City, MD again. So much so, I fear Disney has slipped off our brains.

However, I still got around to making the first of our Orlando ressies for next year. Booked a week at SSR first week of May next year. I'm waiting to hear if the family still wants to do the grand gathering thing next June or if we'll use our extra points in October instead. Right now they're all jockeying for time at the beach this year. My family are the worst planners. Constantly changing dates, realizing they have committments they forgot, and debating every twist for 30 minutes just to be certain they have ALL their say.

The funny thing is when redoing my parents' 30 yo condo, we've done it from lessons learned at Marriott and Disney. Hence the computer desk (upped to a fullblown station with printer and cool speakers) and living room set. My dad has visions of granite counter tops in the kitchen now. If I could just get the complex to spring for a pool lift and jacuzzi... Maybe movies at the pool weeknights.:duck:

Hope everyone is having a good summer.

Sounds like you are turning that condo into a great DVC Villa! You may not have Disney on the brain, but it is definitely in your subconscious!

Have a great summer.

Glad to see ya back :goodvibes

BTW, Penny & Michael at Harmony Barber shop couldn't believe my DS knew about Grandpa Mohawk :confused3 :disrocks:

Hi BroganMc!
We've already booked our trip next May to SSR, too. We'll be there the 1st through the 9th. I'll keep an eye out for you and your dad.:thumbsup2

Better stop doing all that work and get some rest! Sounds like the updated areas are going to be grand indeed.

Glad to see ya back :goodvibes

Good ol' Mickey! How were he and Penny doing? They are so sweet. My dad and I loved hanging out with them last time during the parades. One of those rare occasions when they weren't busy and Mickey could just sit down and chat with us.

Grandpa Mohawk has taken to signing his autographs like that at home too. My niece broke her arm and now sports a pink cast with "Be more careful next time, Grandpa Mohawk" emblazoned across it.

Alas the mohawk is getting a bit long. I really need to trim the top for him. It's extra spikey these days.

Funny vignette, last weekend I took him out to Dumser's for breakfast (one of those old family ice cream parlor/diners). It's Junebug season in OC which means lots of recent grads swarming the beach. Walking along Ocean Highway, he got honked at by scooter drivers for the cool doo. I keep thinking I should be embarrassed.

We love Dumsers:banana: i need some ice cream!!

They were great! So friendly, and just a lot of fun :goodvibes Michael teased him a bit and tried to convince him to go with the pink gel  but did a great job of "making" the right shade of blue that would really show up well in DS's hair. It was a really great experience in there :goodvibes
Here's what Grandpa Mohawk inspired:

He got a lot of great reactions from people (mainly cast members, but some guests) I was just surprised at how many shocked/disapproving looks he got :confused3 It took him a little while to get used to the attention, but he really had a lot of fun with it :thumbsup2 They really thought he looked cool at the golf course the next day

As far as your dad, I think you should be really proud to have such a full of life fun living guy like that around ::yes::
