Disney now lists a 5th resort rate season - "PreHoliday"

Mousesavers lists it for the campsites only, 11/19/04 to 12/19/04. The rate is between value & regular.

I like mousesavers.com & think Mary does a great job, but since it's *unofficial* Disney will say that only their official website can be relied on.

Does anyone have the link to the *official* site [the disney.com link] with this information? Thank you. :)

Even if Mousesavers only lists it for campsites right now, it's still listed for every other resort on the disneyworld.com website with no info. You'd think if they only meant to have this apply to campsites that they wouldn't even put it in the other resorts seasons list, or if they felt they needed to, they would have some sort of explanation that it doesn't apply.

I found what you're talking about...

You're right there's no rate info for that time frame for the resorts...looks like we'll just have to wait & see.

I don't think they would change rates for 2003. If there is a change, it would be for 2004.

That's what I thought at first too, but it now lists pre-holiday as part of the 2003 rates, just no info. It leads me to believe they plan to fill in that column at some point this year. I hope I'm wrong, but the suspicion was enough to scare me into getting my room booked now, before they get those rates up.

This is probably a bad thought, but maybe the pre-holiday rate is to catch all those people checking in the day before peak season so they can't have a value rate their whole stay OR make them stay longer or start their travel earlier to get the better rates.

Sounds like something they would do to make money.

I can totally understand this, but I feel like they always leave you hanging. Or is it that I am so starved for the latest info I can't take it LOL!

Just a thought...perhaps that was their plan all along...to give incentive to their internet savvy guests to book up their resorts thru year end w/o having to offer any special discounts or incentives...well it's a possibility, esp. since CRO seems to be getting so many calls about discounts from guests who say they "check the net."

I am really begining to think its just not worth it anymore for a repeat customer. I have been 5 times and have pretty much "done it " all. I love going but if its getting to the point of paying rack rate No thanks to many other places to see in the world. What next a menopause rate?

This is like a double whamy. No "room discounts" and now "Preholiday" rates. If the Preholiday rates are going to work the way I think they will, Disney will not be doing theirselves any favors. I feel that this will only hurt their business. We are going to Disney World during 12/13/03 to 12/20/03, and I am wondering now if these potential "Preholiday" rates will effect us. I have held off making room reservations in hopes of obtaining a room discount. For the first time I am considering staying off site. I really hate doing this because I love being in the world 24-7. I will have to make a decision soon as what to do.

Thanks for letting me vent. :)

For those of you who have paid only a deposit. Doesn't it say rates subject to change unless paid in full? I'm sure Disney would honor the quote but you never know. Maybe it would be worth it to pay off.

I notice they STILL just have "Pre-holiday" columns and no dates or prices for all the resorts on Disneyworld.com. Have any of you super-Disers learned what the deal is? It's been bugging me...

Hum? Making Money, nah, they couldn't possibly do it just to make money, :)

As a stockholder I certainly hope so. I would agree that there will be slight increase in rates between value and the week leading up to Holiday and this is reflective of the bookings during that time. So is the business of the travel industry, to charge as much as the industry will support.

Even though many of us will not approve, many will not be fazed by it.

I just checked out my reservation papers. The prices that I booked with are guaranteed until 12/31 unless I change them. If you have a room booked already, you're all set. I think that when you book for 2004, they haven't announced the official rates and they are subject to change. You don't have codes, etc. when you book out too far anyways.

Wow I am with the other posters and really not liking this. I already decided not to go to WDW in Dec because of the christmas lights and since we were just there in aug I thought that the kids midwinter vacation might be a good time. Last time we pulled them out of school a few days early just to get the value season rate before it turned into the more expensive rate. Doesnt disney realize lots of familys with kids usually take off at holiday (national) etc. because that is the only time during the year that they let school out. If disney wants my family to spend big bucks at their onsight hotels then they better be more accomodating to me, your paying disney guests and stop trying to squeeze every last disney dollar out of me. This is getting ridiculous. Same reason I took the FTP vs. the ap this year with their unaccomodating of the loyal ap holders, which we have been in the past. The swan and dolphin are looking better and better all the time, and yes we really did enjoy the swan after our ftp at the poly. It seems like it is all coming down to the consumers dollar and not the consumer (guest) any more. Sigh, sigh.
