Disney No Longer Serving All Beef Hot Dogs

I missed the newspaper article - I just saw the blog entry. I'd be more confident if I saw the newspaper article.

I'm going to move this over to our restaurant board.

I am actually happy about this. We only eat Chicken or Turkey hot dogs anyway!

Does this mean you didn't eat at Casey's before, but will now.

We will not be eating at Casey's now. Most people won't know the difference, so I would think chicken and beef hot dogs are here to stay.

Our local paper did an "expose" report on chicken & turkey dogs. if you were frightened by what could be found in a hot dog before, you should stay away from turkey & chicken dogs too. I had no idea what parts of poultry could be ground into food legally and be consumed!!!:scared1:

I always ate at Casey's, but will not now.

Is there anyone who didn't eat at Casey's before, but will now because of the chicken and beef hot dogs.

This is not good. My granddaughter is latose intolerant and the beef hotdogs are one of the very few things she can eat at CS locations. The nuggets have dairy in the crust, so we do peal them. We always ask if the dogs are beef when ordering them and as of this past August they were. I have to warn my daughter now that this might not be an option for her anymore. (No pizza, no mac/cheese, no grilled cheese, no nuggets,,,,,not much left for the baby girl to eat.)

Have you tried her with Lactaid? It would probably allow for a much less restrictive diet.

Casey's used to be our favorite. I will not eat there now

Reminds me of that John Candy movie "the Great Outdoors" when the racoons are invading their garbage and complaining that hotdogs are made of lips and *******s. It took years for me to eat another after that.

I found this debate intriguing, who would've known how dear we Americans hold our hot dogs?

The part I found interesting was how often people referred to all-beef hot dogs as "real" hot dogs. Maybe it's the German in me, but to me if there is no pork in it, than it is not a true hot dog. All-beef seems like an American creation to me.

That being said we usually eat the chicken or turkey franks at home. They are healthier, but not "automatically" you actually have to hunt around, there are some chicken and turkey franks that are just as bad for you as the all-beef varieties.

Keep in mind that Filet Mignon is from the backside - and its not Kosher... QUOTE]

Filet mignon isn't kosher?!!?
This is news to me, but I checked on wikipedia (which is always right, right?) and it said it's not....and I was thinking I've had it at kosher weddings and that my parents had it at their kosher wedding...hmmm

But back to hot dogs, my DH is not a fan of all beef dogs, and they tend to give him indigestion and then he makes hot dog smelling burps that are nasty, so I don't mind the switch. Me, I really don't care either way, I just prefer my dogs not boiled, be they all beef franks or mystery meat weiners!

you can thank the disney dining plan for most of the cuts being done these days. You can't make money when you give away food in order to get people at the hotels. somethings got to go and it's going to be food quality. if you want prime rib and all bee hot dogs you have to be willing to pay the higher prices for them. and when plain hamburger is around 3 bucks a pound in my area, I can imagine the cost for the parks even at wholesale prices.

so I did good by passing on FD to take advantage of room only from 12/17-1/1? ;) Yeah, creative financing makes the world go round, right? And now back to hot dogs, because I really am bummed about it, not to mention DS. Matter of fact, this is yet another change that has landed in the "con" side of our list when panning vacations. I know, I know, stop going to WDW over a hot dog? Get over it...but it is another straw on the camels back...guess I have to scarafice all beef hot dogs to get more Fantasyland, disco lights in TTA, etc. You gotta keep up with WDW, ya know?

As long as they still have the dogs at Costco... I don't care what anyone else does :)

Disney changing hot dogs isn't the end of the world, and they weren't that great to begin with for me.

1st- i've always been a fan of Casey's. That won't change until I try the new hot dogs and find that I don't like them! :thumbsup2
2nd- As, far as the nutritional value of hot dogs; I have always assumed that they had NONE! To quote George Carlin "I know that they're made out of pigs lips..but there GREAT"! :rotfl2:
3rd- Just an observation...how can Costco sell that huge hot dog for $1.50 with a soda and Disney who probably sells a million more hot dogs has to go cheap to save money??? :confused3

I just called Disney and asked them this question. The CM I spoke to seemed to be trying to investigate this question pretty deep. He said, at this time there is nothing telling him that the beef hot dogs at all locations are changing. I realize that we have gotten wrong information from CM's before, but he seemed to be very interested in the question himself and was trying hard to find the information. I guess time will tell. For myself, I hope the hot dogs don't change, I always look forward to a Casey's hot dog.:sad1:

You can get kosher filet mignon but it'll be expensive.
