They would be better off raising the price in general and calling it a Disney+ original. I don’t see them making a feature film all the time for Disney+ and not theaters. If that’s the case kiss the major big blockbuster goodbye.

Thats not what I said but forget it.

Then maybe I’m not understanding. Raya will eventually be included on Disney+ Regardless. This premiere access is like how it would be if it was a full theatrical release. Given the circumstances they can’t do that so to recoup the costs some they are doing premiere access. They know not everyone can go to the theaters yet in March.

Ok, so raise Disney Plus to $15/month and stop this premier access nonsense.

You have to remember, that HBO by itself already cost $15/month (through HBO Now and some other means) -- and PLENTY of people were paying that. HBO has valuable content.

HBO Max is all of HBO PLUS everything else -- all for the same price of $15/month. It's a steal, especially if you were gonna be paying for HBO anyway. And now we're also getting brand new movies the same time they hit theaters? For no extra cost? Woah.

Is the Disney Plus library worth $15/month? Perhaps it is at this point. Definitely would be worth that much if they would release brand new theatrical movies to it for no extra fee :) $30 per movie is absurd.

HBO is playing catch-up on subscribers. If You don’t want to pay $30, then you can watch it in theaters or wait until the 120 day mark when it goes to D+ for free. Disney is trying to make money off of these movies. WW84 is tracking for a 25-30M dollar opening weekend in theaters. That’s not profitable for WB. Even $30 for premier + Theater release isn’t guaranteed to make a profit with Pirating getting exceedingly bad

Exactly.

As a subscriber, I'm pissed about more "premiere" access...if you release the movie to D+, I want the movie on my account...not for another $30...

So, this is another movie I'll skip til it releases as it should...

As it should? Why does Disney “owe” it to us to give us these movies for $7? If you’ve noticed, the DGA, and SAG are furious with WB for giving away their movies for pennies in the dollar just to advertise their streaming platform.

That’s not going to happen. This movie was never intended to be released this way and they have millions invested.

I'm a customer of both - I'm THRILLED with my HBO Max right now...I'm pissed with my D+...I'll only be renewing one next Thanksgiving...

This Thanksgiving, I dropped Hulu for HBO Max...next one, it might be Disney+ for another service who provides me value and treats my membership as it's intended...

"Sunk production costs" are not my problem - they are Disney's...

I am not necessarily against the premium distribution, but I don't think it should be contingent on having a D+ account. They could use a traditional digital rental window/digital to own type of system that is different than D+ - or maybe offer tiers, a standalone rental for $X, add to D+ now for $Y - I don't know, maybe that's overcomplicateing it.

When the DGA, SAG, and WGA all boycott WB due to lost wages in all of this, HBOMax will struggle to have any new content beyond what is already being produced. So...

And if you don’t believe that could happen, look back a decade when the TV industry went on strike and shows got cancelled and seasons cut short
