Iconic Pleasure island sign is down for good. Looks like they are really going to get started working in that area. The former pleasure island will make way for a new area called the landing that will open in 2015.

Disneyland Paris rumors

So these are rumors but they have come from multiple sources that seem legit.

1. in early 2015 Space Mountain goes down for work. The ride is getting new effects, trains and is going back to the original version.

2. In 2016 Big Thunder Mountain is said to go down for major work. New trains with extra capacity as well as new effects are said to be added. Also the plan is to add an interactive queue like in Disney World.

3. Tom Staggs has been meeting with some of the exec of Disneyland Paris over Walt Disney Studios park. The plan is to get some major financial help to completely turn the park around. Some of the new investments are going to include a Spider-Man coaster that takes over Rockin Roller Coaster, Toy Story Mid-Way Mania, a new entrance to the park. Basically tear down the sound stage and build a street of Hollywood. Then extra theme work down to Toon Studios and Pixar Studios to help with the placemaking.

4. Star Tours is finally going to get an upgrade sometime in 2016.

5. What remains to be seen are the additions that have yet to be fully finalized. A Sorain Over the Horizon added to Magic Kingdom in Adventureland.

6. A Fantastic four theme to the Armageddon experience.

7. A Marvel theme to the Backlot Tour.

8. Another unknown Marvel ride.

Still rumors at the time, but the first four seem to be a go while the others are still being finalized. There is also the rumor that Disney Village is going to receive a new eatery and a retheme of the entire area.

Disneyland News

1. Disneyland is having the firework show "Magical" return to the Magic Kingdom for the summer starting May 2nd.


Disneyland Paris Rumor

Ok so this is a news thread but I wanted to share some more stuff about Disneyland Paris.

1. The New York Resort area is expected to see some work starting at the end of the year.

2. Sorian is said to be themed to Indiana Jones that is why it would go behind the Indiana Jones building. Disney is also looking at Discoveryland to see if it could fit there if the Indiana Jones theme doesn't work.

Events for the 25th anniversary of Disneys Hollywood Studios have been announced.

1. VP of DHS and mickey and Minnie will open the park with a special ceremony.

2. A motorcade of characters will go around at 7 pm. "Stars of the studios"

3. A special firework spectacular and dance party will take place at 9 pm paying tribute to 25 years of show business.

This all happens on May 1st.

Walt Disney World adds more FastPass+ reservations, park hopping to MyMagic+ offerings

"Beginning Monday April 28, 2014, Walt Disney World is expanding its FastPass+ offerings based on guest feedback.

Disney Parks & Resorts chairman Tom Staggs revealed today that next week will begin the previously-announced plans to add more flexibility to MyMagic+.

Advance FastPass+ reservations via MyDisneyExperience.com will still be limited to 3 attractions in one park per day. But once those 3 are used, guests will be able to visit any FastPass+ kiosk in any Walt Disney theme park to obtain a fourth reservation. Once that one is used, guests can return for a fifth, and so on.

Though there are still limitations involved in these changes, it does greatly enhance the usage of the new system, making it similar to the traditional FastPass system once the three pre-booked reservations are used up. A simple visit to a kiosk will allow guests to book additional times to see rides and shows.

The obvious downside is that booking an end-of-day fireworks viewing area in advance no longer makes sense, as guests wouldn’t be able to obtain more reservations until that time has passed. But fireworks viewing areas aren’t exactly necessary anyway.

Another downside is that guests cannot use the My Disney Experience app or mobile site to add the fourth (and so on) passes. They must visit an in-park kiosk to do so. But park hopping is allowed after the third FastPass+ reservation has been used, so it frees up the ability to grab whatever slots are remaining throughout the Walt Disney World resort.

These changes will begin just two days before media from around the world arrive for a 3-day press event officially unveiling MyMagic+ and FastPass+."

Mine Train looks like it is going to be opening VERY soon. Almost all the walls are down and replaced with rolling planters. Singage is on the buildings and the ride itself is done. The stroller parking area for the guest is actually opened and it pretty big from the photos I have seen. Expect soft openings ANY day now.

Interesting news for Epcot today. Imagineer Tom Fitzgerald will take over the creative direction of Epcot. Disney is looking to work on some major re-imagineering to Epcot, looking to restore the original intent of the park. He also leads at Disneyland Paris.

Also VP Erin Youngs will take a new role of VP, construction, horticulture, textile services, and distribution. Greg Duse is retiring he is the former VP.

Sam Lau will take overall VP of Epcot who is former disney transportation VP. Jason Kirk will replace Lau.

Scott Trowbridge is now dedicated to the Star Wars studio at walt disney imagineering. He will also take on the role of portfolio leader at Disneyland resort. Trowbridge came from universal he was on the team that designed islands of adventure.

Is there a thread to discuss about this already? Sounds like big news to me. It looks like there are some plans to bring new stuff to EPCOT. I really hope they announce soon how this is going to affect the park for the following years.

While I think changes will come to Epcot I think disneys focus is still on adding Star Wars right now as they just appointed a new guy to head Star Wars in WDI.
