Disney News, Discussion & an Element of Fun - 2025 Edition

Disney just announced that they're putting a bunch of ride and experience POVs from Disneyland on D+ for its 70th anniversary, similar to what they did with ROTR. Includes Pirates, Indy, Radiator Springs Racers, Incredicoaster, along with what look like walkthroughs of various lands and nighttime shows.

Would be nice if they got them on Youtube too.

They won't get the subscription money if they're on YouTube.

I'd love to have a high quality version of the nighttime spectaculars to watch at home after our trip. I wonder if they'll have both WoC and Wondrous Journeys on D+

I've always wondered what the draw is of ride POV videos. I wouldn't want to spoil the personal discovery of a new ride. And then once I've been, I've seen it. But I suppose I'm in the minority!

I never watch them before I have experienced it myself. I might ocassionally watch one, though usually it'll be something like Horizons or the original Imagination - something I can't see anymore in person.

Those I get! I've also watched Horizons

So, a couple of things:

1. It's not necessarily for discovery of a new ride. In this case, *none* of the rides are new, they're often extremely old, and there are plenty of other ride POVs to watch if you want to see Pirates for example. But a lot of them are terrible and Disney has more than enough professional equipment to make a video that looks really good. In these cases I think people just watch these videos to reminisce, really. I follow a guy who somehow creates very watchable Guardians POVs (along with others) and unfortunately I can't be down there to listen to September as much as I'd like but I can watch this video of it.
2. There are cases with new rides where I don't mind being spoiled, namely to figure out if I could handle the more intense ones. Velocicoaster is a really good example. Haven't gone on it yet, still not sure if I'll do it, but watching it and getting more familiarity with the twists and turns gives me a little more confidence that maybe it'll happen in the future. A lot of these POV channels are more focused on the more intense stuff.

Would say though that in most cases for new rides then yeah, I'd prefer not to be spoiled. Haven't watched anything from EU except for Universal's clip of Stardust Racers, due to my aforementioned issues with rollercoasters.

I use them for my kids who have some ride anxiety. Show them what the rides are like a bit before they go on them for the first time so they can feel more comfortable knowing what they are about.

Thanks, that makes sense! I listen to Disney Parks music sometimes so I can see how watching a POV is an extension of that
