Disney News, Discussion & an Element of Fun - 2023 Edition

More details from union leaders: Every current theme park worker in the union will receive a raise between $5.50 and $8.60 by the end of the contract, with the first $3 coming this year.

All six STCU unions are unanimous in their support of the agreement.

Here is the path to $18/hour:

For workers in jobs that currently earn $15/hour, retroactive pay to October 2022 will be at $16/hour.

The rate will immediately increase to $17/hour when the deal is ratified.

Rate will increase again to $18/hour in December.

The contract runs through October 2026, according to union leaders.

Per the union: The deal also includes 8 weeks of paid Child Bonding Leave, a benefit that is not included in the current contract.

looks like Union housekeepers would increase to $20 hourly plus tips…I always assumed they made way less and left huge tips. (Not that $20 is a lot for what they do)

Personally, I would prefer if our society didn't make service industry workers rely on tips. Everyone should just be paid a living wage based on the cost of living in their area. Tips would still be appreciated when someone goes above and beyond but the worker wouldn't need to struggle if they happened to be servicing less generous guests on a given day.

But, I will tip as long the above isn't the norm...

As we were watching Harmonious on Monday it dawned on me…

once gone we might start hearing from all the people missing it 😄

For sure I will miss the Mulan part. the red and white was stunning.
My negatives are mainly the aesthetic of the barges during the daytime and the fact that the show itself lacks 360 view ability the soundtrack slaps and the projections if you get a view of the stargate are chefs kiss….

Let’s start guessing what songs of the Disney songbook will be in new show…. $10 and a churro says it will include Bruno

Hey, we saw it Monday, too! Our last time (except for YouTube, of course)

We watched it for the first time last week from a prime window inside La Hacienda de San Angel while sipping the specialty marg and eating dinner. I must say, it was quite lovely. I thought it was fun, and I’m glad we got to see it. The children at the table next to us absolutely loved it and were so excited as the scenes changed. I didn’t really get what was so awful about it, but I can easily skip fireworks as they’re just not our thing, so perhaps I’m not the targeted demographic.

What was awful was the daytime look across the lake. But I think for many fans, the big sin was simply that it wasn't Illuminations.
