Every little increase just adds up doesn't it? $5 really won't break most people. But when every little thing is 10% higher that's easily $100 or more a day that you are paying extra now for a family. :(
I did the math for what the three trips I took in 2017 would cost me right now, and the grand total was $32,750.

Back then, we were a single-income family of four. Now we're a dual-income family, and it would take me 6 more months of expendable income to make those same trips.

Wow. This prompted me to do some math.

To go at the exact same time, with same hotel, tickets, dining plan (based on the most recent numbers, which would certainly be higher if they ever brought the dining plan back), our (large family) Christmas 2019 trip would cost $27,964 now - just for funds that go to Disney itself (not airfare, etc.).

That’s 1.84x what the same trip cost in 2019 (according to my spreadsheet of what we paid).

(And again, that’s with the dining plan being calculated at pre-pandemic prices, which are definitely waaaay low, considering dining costs have all gone up considerably).

Edited to add: this also doesn’t factor in Genie+ or ILL purchases, which would add up quickly for a party of 12. Just ran the numbers: to include Genie+ (estimated at $20/day) and 1 ILL/person/day (estimated at $15/day), the total would be 2.06x what we paid in 2019. That’s a more fair comparison, considering FastPass+ was free and we used it heavily.

I'm hesitant to do the math to compare with past trips, but the most recent round of price hikes has really left a bad taste in my mouth. I'm sure I'll change my tune next summer, but I've seriously considered taking a break, saving some $$$, waiting until Epcot is no longer a construction zone....

Disney Eats: Restaurant Reopenings to Get Excited About at Walt Disney World

Beginning Nov. 1, Tusker House Restaurant will be transitioning to an all-you-care-to-enjoy, buffet style dining experience! That means you can go and grab all the food you can handle. What makes this spot nestled in the Harambe Marketplace so special is its menu filled with African-inspired flavors.

There are plenty of dishes to keep your eye (and taste buds) on when this location goes back to a buffet. From breakfast to dinner, you will be more than satisfied. Kickstart your morning at Disney’s Animal Kingdom Theme Park with tasty plates, including an assortment of pastries like the Zebra Coffee Cake, breakfast classics like Simba Waffles and Mickey Waffles, and a variety of breakfast meats.

Collage of Tusker House Food

For lunch and dinner, you can indulge in various breads and dips, house specialties like the Spit-roasted Tandoori Chicken and Green Curry Shrimp, plant-based options including the Cauliflower Bunny Chow, and various salads. There are also some classics for the little ones to enjoy like corn dog nuggets and macaroni and cheese to name a few. And don’t worry – there are plenty of desserts to enjoy too!

This adventurous spot not only has mouthwatering eats, but Donald Duck and some of his Disney pals have taken a break from their safari adventure to celebrate with you. Be sure to get a picture and a hug from the gang as they venture around the dining room. Plus, what could be better than characters and food?

Collage of food from Kona Cafe

Over at Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort, the delicious Kona Cafe will soon be returning from its recent refurbishment. Beginning Nov. 1, you can once again dine at this favorite restaurant but now with a refreshed experience. The look, feel, and even some flavors of this relaxed café will be different, yet familiar. Kona Cafe will feature American cuisine with that Asian flare that makes it so unique and you can still watch the chefs at work in the onstage sushi kitchen.

There are breakfast favorites that have cemented their place on the menu, including the delicious and can’t-miss Tonga Toast and Pineapple Macadamia Nut Pancakes served at breakfast. These two are fan-favorites for a reason. Just take a peek at how tasty they look! Be sure to keep an eye out for several items returning to the menu like the Big Kahuna Burger and Seafood Pu Pu Platter and even a new plant-based offering for dinner, the Sautéed Red Quinoa.

Lastly, I cordially invite you to feast at Akershus Royal Banquet Hall, which will open its doors once again on Nov. 4. This dining experience is found at the Norway pavilion in the World Showcase at EPCOT and gives guests a taste of Norwegian cuisine.

Looks good, though I wish they had a few more Norwegian dishes like they used to. It used to be a traditional menu where you choose an entre with also like a "salad" bar that had some cold items, right? I actually do like the family style serving, and I assume you can get more as with most of those types of meals. The pic does look mighty tasty! We'll have to see what the reviews are like. I don't really care about the Princess Meal, but I'd spring for it if the food is unique and delicious!

any idea what the price is? might consider it if its not crazy expensive in January, but trying to decide if the money is worth it for the 3 of us since all 3 of us are sleeve patients. probably would be better if we went with people who could eat more.

According to the website:

I wonder if Akershus will be the same set up with Belle or if they'll move it to Anna and Elsa. It seems they'll have princesses during your meal which CRT doesn't have just yet.
