Does this sound like trying to fill rooms when advanced reservations are falling short? Florida residents would not need much advance notice, meaning no time requirement for buying low cost flights when you are local. Especially across the board discounts like this. Are there any resort left off this list?

Disney Patents Mobile Robot Locker to Carry Guests’ Items at Theme Parks

The Walt Disney Company has filed a patent for a “Robotic Sherpa,” described as a mobile locker allowing guests to access their stored items whenever they want without having to carry them.

The patent shows a robot with cameras that would help it navigate crowds and a mobile app guests would use to recall and lock their mobile storage unit. The storage compartment would be detachable, so it can be moved to different mobile units if need be.

“The storage compartment can be coupled either the same or a different mobility unit,” the patent reads. “The mobile lockers can be recalled by a customer to either the customer’s location or to designated locations at the venue. The lockers can include any one of multiple locking mechanisms.”
Lockers are currently available at the front of each Disney theme park, but this isn’t as convenient as a locker that follows you around or comes when you call. These robotic lockers would be great for guests who need to bring a lot of things to the parks, but don’t necessarily need those things during the entire visit. The patent lists examples of packed lunches and umbrellas. Guests could also store their merchandise purchases in the lockers. The robots could be especially helpful for guests with young children and guests with some disabilities.

That sounds like a hot mess. That's what the current mass of humanity crowds need - a bunch of robots roaming around.

How about they just bring back merchandise delivery to the resorts instead? I would much prefer that over a robot.

I wish they would bring that back too. Because the robots won't be in the way/break down/get stuck/people will try and steal your stuff.
Right. Because the walkways are already crowded enough. We don't need robots carrying spirit jerseys and water bottles clogging them up more. My friend used the merchandise delivery at Universal (from the park to City Walk) and it was super easy and convenient. Made me wish Disney had theirs back already.

I don't think it's practical to actually have these things roaming the parks and following people. Chances are the patent covers that, but real-world use would never actually be implemented. It's speculative, but the patent covers more just in case.

Grand Floridian Staff: Microwaves Planned For All Resort Studios

Disney Vacation Club may already be addressing the biggest sore spot for guests considering the newest rooms at Villas at Disney's Grand Floridian Resort & Spa.

BPK Microwave

When the Grand Floridian's Resort Studios were announced, many were surprised to learn that the design does not feature the familiar DVC Studio kitchenette. While the lack of a dedicated sink is perhaps attributable to the nature of converted hotel rooms, the absence of a microwave oven and toaster was curious given the low cost and widespread adoptance among even budget hotel chains.

It appears DVC and the resort may have heard member complaints.

Within a day after the Resort Studios made their debut, DVCNews has heard from multiple members who were told that microwaves are on the way for all 202 new rooms. This information comes courtesy of resort staff members, who claim supply shortages are to blame for the fact that microwaves were not installed as of Day One.

So far, the Disney Vacation Club website has not been updated to reflect this change in amenities. DVC has not yet responded to our attempts to confirm. However, it is clear that guests are able to request delivery of a microwave and/or toaster from housekeeping if not present upon arrival. The room's beverage station even features a small shelf which accommodates the dorm-size microwave oven.

So...... a stroller you don't push.

If the 'robots' were on elevated or underground tunnels/train tracks/pneumatic tubes with certain pick-up points, then this idea would work well. Even with drones flying 50-100 feet high, also meeting at certain pick-up points. But not with robots running through crowds.
