A Penny for Your Thoughts: Walt Disney World 50th Anniversary Celebration Coin Pressed Pennies, Medallions and Tags Are Minted With Memories

Along with these new designs comes a new generation of penny presses. That’s right, they’ve gone digital, making it even easier to find and use each machine!
The new machine designs are also easy to use, more reliable and best of all, there’s no need to search for the perfect shiny penny to use for your souvenir. Machines are now filled with brand-new, uncirculated pennies that will forever carry the design you choose. Equipped with a touch screen for easy navigation, the new penny press machines operate in six different languages and give guests the ability to select one, eight or even twelve different penny designs all at once for easy collecting.
Plus, they no longer require coins to enjoy. Every machine also accepts all credit cards, Apple Pay and Google Wallet, in addition to cash. planDisney Tip: If you still love the hand crank experience, or love using your own pennies, don’t worry. Select locations still have original machines for your penny pressing experience.

I know it's nostalgia talking, but we really missed the hand-crank penny machines on our last trip. I know the article says they have them at "select locations," but they were pretty scarce when we looked last summer! Between this and Sorcerers of the Magic Kingdom, these were two ultra-low cost but fun activities that I'll miss.

Same, I love those. The click click click noise haha. We used to save the shiniest pennies for whenever we went to Disney, feels like the end of an era but I do get it's more convenient and faster to dispatch the customer. Kinda wonder if all the pennies will be available on all machines or if it still will be a few pennies per machine.

One of the expo’s most beloved events is the Mousequerade Costume Contest, where cosplayers bring their SERIOUS Disney “A” costuming game. And during the D23 Expo Media Event this morning, we learned that the costume contest will return in 2022!

This year’s event will bring both Ashley Eckstein and Yvette Nicole Brown back for the third time, along with new judge Ally Maki. And the Mousquerade will be hosted by Nina West.

This year’s contest will feature some new categories, too, including “Off The Screen,” Imagine That!,” “Magical Mashups,” and “Cast of Characters,” along with a fan-favorite award based on an audience vote for the “Best in Show” prize of $2,300.

I don't think the hoodie is so bad - not all art is colorful. Some people will like it. Me, I don't really like anything with a hood, but I don't find it as offputting as a lot of you seem to.

I agree. I like it better than a lot of the things they've come out with lately. I'm not a sparkly kind of girl and don't really like a lot of the wild colors and patterns they are using right now. I lived through the 80's once and have the embarrassing pictures to prove it :goodvibes. A lot of things they are putting out right now remind me of that era and it's just not my thing.

But to each their own. Everyone's different so I think it's good they are putting out different styles and colors.

The 80's are the decade that will never die! Now, to me, that's a good thing as I am an 80's kid all the way. I actually prefer a bit of color, but not everything has to be like that. Even if muted, it's still art - an artist still designed it. I'd like it too if not for the hood, but I am not a hoodie type of guy at all.

Is this like prison garb, to identify the "inmates", or something?

The really sad thing is it probably costs like $80...and people will still buy it. Some might even wear it.

Ha, funny thing is, I looked at that and thought, finally some WDW merch that I would wear. I am always looking for something a little more muted and never feel like I can find it.
