RE strange world, I saw a bunch of ads on Facebook, Instagram, etc.

But I’m the target, two young kids, Disney fan, live in a liberal area. I check what I assume are most of the boxes.

We saw it on Friday, the theater was 75% full which is the most I’ve seen for a movie recently.

It was cute and I enjoyed it but I’m easy to please if you have snacks and keep my kids mostly quiet for 90 minutes.

Ouch! What happens to the people who’ve already purchased tickets for Magic Kingdom ? They only get 7.5 hours despite paying full price? Does Disney provide any compensation?
They get exactly what they purchased - admission to the park for all the hours it is open.

Park admission is not per-hour. It's per day. The price is the same no matter how long the park is open.

I’m sure that’s in the fine print. Just like airlines can basically change your time flight time to anything they want as long as they deliver you to your final destination eventually.

But c’mon, eliminating that large of a time-slot is REALLY a shaft to the customer. The least they could do is provide something for free on that day, or allow ticket refunds. In addition to the guests with MK reserved, it up-ends people who bought parkhops elsewhere, expecting to spend the second half at MK.

Delivering the minimum they’re legally obligated to do is NOT what good customer service is made of.

Auto-insurers gave money back when states enforced lockdowns. Cruises offer cashback/OBC when a port gets cancelled.

Disney decides operating hours, which are never the same on any day of the year. They can choose how long they want parks open each day and we get to decide what days we want to visit each park.

Christmas and Halloween parties cut of normal MK operating hours quite a bit already. This is just one of those instances that happen throughout the year.

Yep, Disney CAN. But 7.5 hours for what guests expected would be a full day is certainly a bad value. The holiday parties are scheduled and known in advance…. this abbreviated day was NOT known in advance.

Part of being a trustworthy company is not bait-&-switching after customers have already purchased. Disney’s tickets are not refundable. Customers purchased in good faith and have a reasonable expectation of full day experience, despite Disney’s fine-print disclaimers. Although Disney legally CAN reduce the deliverable while keeping 100% of the purchase price, they SHOULD NOT.

Only a lawyer would be happy with this turn of events for customers who’ve already paid.

They told us more than two months in advance. How much more advance notice does one need in order for it to be acceptable? People have time to adjust their park days if they can.

Value is subjective. If you're traveling at that time, hopefully you change your park days around if you can so you can get the value out of your trip.

This is also the annual event celebrating CMs and their years of service to the company. For one night a year MK closes at 4:30 for this event. 2022 was the first year there were 2 of these nights because the 2021 celebration was postponed to 2022.

One evening out of the year to celebrate those who provide the magic, yeah, I’m good with that.

Because not everybody can adjust their flights, nor their time-off from employer. Many people don’t take luxurious 7-day vacations at Disney, but instead do 1- or 2-day park visits.

This is only 9 weeks notice. A good portion of visitors have already reserved hotels, flights, car rentals for that day. Some have already made Advance Dining Reservations using the 60+10 rule.

Based on historical data, ticket-purchasers have a “legal reasonable expectation” of a traditional-full day for their purchase price. Disney needs to refund or otherwise provide partial compensation for changing the deliverable after selling it.

Disney Employees deserve a party and I’m all for that! YES!!! But not at a time that causes domino financial impacts to paying-customers — Unless Disney provides refunds or compensation for choosing to not deliver the reasonable expectation. This certainly could’ve been scheduled sooner than now. Was Disney uncertain until the last minute whether or not its employees deserved a party? Good grief this is the time to schedule a 2024 party, not Jan 2023 party.

Honestly, myself and a lot of people I know go to a lot less movies in the theaters now. Even matinee prices have gone crazy, I don't go to the movies much anymore.

I will agree to the prices being insane. But there have been movies that do quite well still so its not hopeless.

On the flip side, days the MK closes early usually have lower crowds and lower wait times- especially this day. People can actually get more rides in even though the park isn’t open as long. Unless someone has their hear set on seeing fireworks, this is a very good day to be at MK.

Agreed!

We were at MK yesterday (party night). We rolled in around 9:00 and the park had been open for an hour. It was dead! We had a LL booked for Jungle Cruise, then walked on Splash, and waited 10 minutes at Mansion - all within our first hour. It did start to pick up after that, and because BTM (opened sometime in the early afternoon) and Pirates (no clue if it ever opened) were down wait times got a bit high. But it was completely doable and the crowds in the walkways were the lowest I've seen in a long time. I've not seen that much empty space in the afternoon between IaSW and PP since I don't know when. If you're going during party season, a shortened party day is the time to come!! We had a great day.

I'm happy to hear that! We're going next week during a party day.
