Select Caribbean Beach Resort Rooms to Receive New “Under the Sea” Character Theme & Other Unique Enhancements

Disney has announced that some of the rooms at Disney’s Caribbean Beach Resort will receive updates and a new theme. Here’s the announcement:

In an effort to continually enhance the guest experience, some of the resort rooms in the Trinidad area of Disney’s Caribbean Beach Resort will be receiving a brand-new look and feel. These new rooms, which will include subtle nods to fan-favorite characters from under the sea, will accommodate more guests and feature updated finishings that can’t be found anywhere else at the resort.

As we prepare these new rooms, guests will be able to see and hear refurbishment work in and around Trinidad beginning October 3. We look forward to welcoming guests into these new rooms in 2023.

Carpet Replacement Project to Impact Select Areas of Disney’s Contemporary Resort on Oct. 3-4

On Monday, October 3 and Tuesday, October 4, refurbishment work will take place in the common areas of the 12th floor at Disney's Contemporary Resort. During that time, crews will be replacing the carpet in certain areas of that floor, and no Guest rooms will be impacted.

Guests will see and hear refurbishment work throughout the resort's main tower atrium during daytime hours, typically from 10:30 a.m.-5 p.m. Some elevators will be out of service while this work is completed, but all walkways will remain open and available to Guests.

So, remove the Pirates of the Caribbean theming, and replace it with Little Mermaid? There is already Little Mermaid theming at the Art of Animation Resort! And there is NO Pirates theming anywhere now. Odd.

Character Flotilla Route Modified Due to Hurricane Ian Damage at Animal Kingdom

Guests visiting Disney’s Animal Kingdom should note that the character flotilla entertainment that typically circles Discovery Island is currently unable to do so due to Hurricane Ian damage. Multiple trees fell into the Discovery River, blocking the path for the flotillas to make a full navigation along the Discovery River. Instead, the flotillas are limited to just the immediate lake in the Discovery River Amphitheater. The character flotillas circle the amphitheater once before heading backstage. Here’s a look at the damage from Hurricane Ian.

Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge Welcomes the Early Birth of a Rare African Antelope

Today, Monday, October 3, Dr. Mark Penning, Vice President: Animals, Science and Environment for Disney Parks, Experiences and Products, announced on his Instagram page the birth of a rare African antelope at Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge.

Here’s the announcement:

With a gentle, golden sunrise in the distance, Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge welcomed the birth of a rare species of African antelope during the early morning hours on Sunday. Arriving a little earlier than expected, addax Lavender just gave birth to her second calf. And what better way to inspire our guests and cast than the magic of nature and the miracle of birth!
Mom and calf are doing well and resting safely together under a shaded and protected canopy under the watchful eyes of our dedicated veterinarians and animal keepers. The pair are nuzzling, nursing and bonding and the calf joins four other addax at Animal Kingdom Lodge. Guests staying at Animal Kingdom Lodge got to experience the wonder of nature firsthand and see some of the special moments leading up to the calf’s delivery.

Dr. Penning said that this past Sunday, Lavender gave birth to her second Addax calf in the early morning hours and it had arrived earlier than expected. Although the Addax, also known as a white antelope and a screwhorn antelope, is extremely rare in its native habitat – the Sahara Desert, it is quite common in captivity.

Dino Diner Construction Walls Removed, Permanent Extinction From DinoLand USA Possible

Following the removal of the Dino Diner snack stand last month, Disney has repaired a hole in the fence and removed the temporary construction walls in the area. While some thought a refurbishment was possible, it’s looking more likely that the snack stand was removed permanently. Disney also removed Dino Diner from the digital map, perhaps serving as further evidence that the location is extinct. Here’s a look at the area from earlier today.

Other game locations remain open.

Rumors abound about the future of Dinoland as a whole... just wish Disney would pull the trigger.

Heck they should have at least kept the theming going in that area, and added a few more caravel rides last year. While MK might do ok with one attraction like Stich being shutdown and nothing going back into it's place. AK was short on attractions as it was. Don't get me wrong, I hated the whole concept of Chester and Hester trying to cash in of visiting tourist to the Dino-Institute and oping a roadside caravel of sorts. But it was "something" to do... just never expected it to be there twenty years later.
