I was just wondering if they were still readily available at DTD and the parks? I am looking to buy one in the next month. Also, can anyone tell me exactly how much they cost and what color stripe the current monorails have?

I've read that they are not made as well as the past monorails. Any input would be great. Thanks.:smickey:

To my knowledge, the only change in the monorail set trains over time I'm aware of is the addition of opening door and roof features about two years ago (prior versions didn't have those). The drive train mechansim and electronics haven't changed, beyond the addition of a very basic remote control function to the (limited edition?) D23 sets that just came out.

Frankly, the weak link in the monorails is the electric motor they use - very cheap and low torque, so the stock trains slow (and I mean really slow). An easy upgrade to a more powerful, higher quality motor that gets the train running at a respectable pace is discussed in the "monorail motor" thread in this forum.
