Disney Monorail Play Set?

I was wondering if anyone had the Disney Parks Monorail Play Set that is currently being sold at Disney Shopping?

I am considering purchasing this for DS5 for Christmas, but am curious about the quality. Am also considering the Contemporary building. Any reviews would be appreciated!

My son keeps begging for it. I think it is nothing but an overpriced piece of junk! They have it out at disney and it is cheap plastic. Nothing I would spend $75 on.

My DD11 wanted this for years, but every time we were there I would tell her it was too expensive. So, on our last trip (DD wasn't with us), all toys were 35% off, so I bought it for her as a surprise for her birthday. She loved it. She set it up right away and DS1 loves sitting in the middle and watching the monorail go around. I think it is really cute. Yes, it is plastic, but so far it's held up pretty well. We don't have the contemporary part yet, but I'm sure DD will want to get it next time we're there. I think it would make a great gift.

DS had been eyeing the monorail for a couple of years and we finally bought it for his birthday last year (with the AP discount at World of Disney). Yes it's plastic, but it has held up really well and still gets lots of use a year later. We were just there and bought a couple of new stickers and characters that we found in the stores -- not very expensive and a fun "expansion set". We also bought the castle for DD and it's really cute to see them play together. It's not scale, but still darn cute.

And the voice brings back Disney memories all year long!

we have it - i bought it for my sons 3 1/2 and 7 - for christmas this year. They love it. I find the little doors fall off alot and the characters are VERY TINY!!! My little one loves the monorail!
I got it at world of disney with the disney visa discount and with my credits from the visa - and had it shipped home.
If you child is rough with toys it might not hold up well - if not - it is fun (i think i like it the best)

It's plastic, but it's fairly durable. I wouldn't call it "junk" although at $70 it's probably at least double what it should be. Certainly the wooden Thomas trains are of better quality, but those aren't cheap either.

We have the monorail, Spaceship Earth and the castle(all bought with a 40% discount). My DS3 loves the monorail! He doesn't care too much about SE or the castle, but he's not really a kid that plays with figurines anyway. Our DS1 is constantly climbing over the tracks to get to the monorail- he likes to press the button and hear the voice telling him to "Please stay clear of the doors!" I secretly like it when he gets ahold of it, because I love to hear the real monorail announcements at home! I agree with a PP- the characters are TINY and the doors fall off very easily. But, overall it's a really cool playset.

We've had ours at least two years and it still hasn't broken. It's totally overpriced, but I've rarely seen something DS (4 or 5 at the time) wanted so much. He's the kind of kid who rarely asks for anything at stores, but he WANTED that monorail I'm glad we got it. Oh, the doors do fall off, but they also snap back on easily. I barely remember the characters.

We had the monorail set bought recently for us (grandparents gift to our son). It holds up very well against a 2.5 year who loves to throw everything!! My 4 year old get angry at his brother, but the track hold up very well to being thrown across the room. The monorail is a little finicky and falls apart, but can easily be put back together.
