We're staying at ASMo for our next trip with a cruise in the middle. I'm now thinking of checking out of the hotel when we go on the 3 night cruise and checking in to one of the moderate resorts after the cruise for the remainder of the holiday, which will include Christmas Day and NYE. Just not sure which one to choose from though. If anyone's got any recommendations they would be most appreciated.

For us it's got to be Port Orleans Riverside.
You feel a million miles away from the hustle and bustle of Disney. There's a great boat ride to DTD and it has the charm of a deluxe resort.

We stayed at Coronado Springs for Christmas last year and it was wonderful. I have read a few criticisms about this resort with it being a conference centre but for us it was fantastic. It is a beautiful resort, we loved evening walks around the lake and it felt so peaceful and away from the bustle. The Christmas decorations were great and we absoultely loved the Pepper Market because it had so much choice.

We have stayed at 2. Wouldn't go back to Caribbean Beach as it was just was way too spread out (I'm not a lazy person but who wants to walk for 15 mins to get a drink after a long day in the parks?!). Stayed for two weeks at Port Orleans French Quarter in May and LOVED it. Compact area, beautiful grounds, great staff! Will be upgrading to it from Pop again next year if money goes my way!!!!!

We have stayed at Coronado Springs 3 times and have booked a 4th! After a our first stay we were hooked  We are going next year during free dining and even the deal on the DVC resorts could not sway us!

We have visited the other mods and like CSR best - it has the best buses (4 internal stops and no sharing with another resort) and great food options! Don't worry about it being a convention resort it really isn't a problem and helps keep the resort as good as it is. It is the only mod to have a gym and spa (although I am yet to work out why someone who is at Disney walking all day need a gym :confused3 )

I would avoid CBR if you are planning on using the buses - they have 7  internal stops!

POR is really lovely, lovely landscape and boat ride to DTD. I really liked the mansions, very pretty.

Thanks for your replies. It seems like a toss up now between either of the POR's or CSR. I don't think we'll be disappointed in either of them. We're sort of figuring that it might not be so manic in these resorts between Christmas and New Year, Busy yes, but with a more relaxed atmosphere than ASMo.
Can you get the boat to DTD from both of the POR's?

Nick

yes, the boat stops at both resorts.

Thanks again for your help. After comparing them all I think we like the look of POFQ the most. I'll have to get some prices on Monday. :thumbsup2

We do! CBR is a beautiful resort and for us being big is part of the attraction. For me that 15 minute walk is a great time to wind down and reflect on the day. Plus it's only a 15 minute walk from the farthest buildings.

We go in Sept and the buses are no better or worse than the buses at PO.

We have stayed at both CBR and POFQ and can't separate them. We have booked POFQ next year purely because it was cheaper. Had they been the same price we would have booked CBR.

The "local" pools in CBR are always quiet and much nicer than the main pool (at either resort). The boat to DTD from POFQ is nice.

Don't write off CBR purely on the fact that it is a bigger resort.

If there is any way that you can reserve a room through the uk website (www.disneyworld.co.uk) you may save $$. The prices from the UK are very good at the moment.

Good luck.

I feel reassured reading this :thumbsup2
