Someone at Disney really needs to be paying attention to marketing tie ins with VMK...

Take this weekend for example- it is the baseball movie quest weekend- all are disney movies available on video/dvd...

Had they advertised this coming event- say a month ago- they could have said- we will be doing a movie trivia quest from these movies and to get through the quest you will need to watch and be very observant...

I would think that some would have gone out and actually sprung for copies of the movies- I had seen them all but the details they were picking for questions were more than the casual observer would have picked up on. So having seen these in the past really wouldn't help much- but had I known what movies they were I might have looked into the purchase or at least renting these movies...

So yet again Disney is missing another easy marketing tie-in. I still think they should have done the Sky Hi DVD's with the codes like they did with Herbie...

But maybe they don't have their plans together far enough in advance for this- who knows but it seems they could certainly use VMK in other ways to bring in more money to the company as a whole...

Clicking a spoiler thread is by far more efficient, and cheaper. :rolleyes1

you are correct there but... had they promoted this event earlier with a list of the movies then it may have increased sales and cost them little or nothing to put the information on the homepage and in places like vmk central where all these movies are sold in parks too

I wanted to say that my comment would make it all obsolete, but you're right, a "heads up" paragraph or two in the newsletter could of only helped the cash flow.. if at all.

I agree. Of course, if you assume people actually take the time to read
the front page and/or the newsletter. I've seen events listed on the
front page and a player will ask, "Hey, where did you get that?"

Some will always be oblivious, I guess. But I do think they missed a lot
of marketing opportunities, too.

I still think they should have given VMK tie-ins at the theaters where
"Pirates of the Caribbean Dead Man's Chest" is playing. Codes on flyers
like they give for concession coupons. Of course, if Disney actually is
planning on doing this, I'd be pleasantly shocked. LOL!

Excellent point - and it would have the kids telling their parents, "I want to see ___________. Please, can't we get it?" Cha-ching!

A notice on the home page would have been very helpful. I might have at least rented the movies. After this weekend's quests, I hope to NEVER, EVER see, rent or buy a Disney movie about baseball. I guess that would be an example of anti-marketing? :confused3
