Post #12 in this thread now has hi-resolution images

Hey guys. I have tried my best to do this and this is compiled from lot's of photos of my park guide from 1999! I hope you enjoy and that a better version isn't available somewhere ;)

[If someone could help the image is 13.8Megabytes and 13.3Megabytes and I need an imagehost that will allow that size]

Enjoy ^_^

I also have guide maps for Epcot, Disneyland and Magic Kingdom BUT Not Animal Kingdon /cry (We never got a replacement one when we were there)
It's interesting how something so inanimate can bring about so much nostalgia

Very cool, thanks for sharing! I remember they used to print new maps with each new weeks dates on them.

I actually have an MGM map that is so old it's not even in color!! It's just blue and white! I don't know what year it's from though. I also have a "5-Day Super Duper Hopper Pass" (I swear, that's what it was called) It was gigantic and it had to be punched like a time card and then the date was stamped on it. I'll see what I can find to scan and post on here when I get home from work.

First time to Disney World for me, '99. Good memories. Sure liked MGM better without that Hat. Thanks, Super. :thumbsup2

:O What hat is this?

There is a HUGE Sorcerer Mickey hat right in front of the Great Movie Ride building. If I am remembering correctly, the put it up for the 100 Year celebration and have never taken it down. There is a pin station/store underneath the hat.

:O I hope it doesn't block the outside view into the entrance?

Great memories!

Esp. love the 'ticks' and 'crosses' thats against all the attractions, great touch :thumbsup2

The "hat" is inside the park.
It fully blocks the view of the "Chinese Theater" (Great Movie Ride.)

Suggestion-

If you were to put this map on a flat-bed computer SCANNER, you could scan high-rez images of it without so many light reflections.
Plus, you could flatten it down, as you scanned it, to press out a lot of the wrinkles .

Nice to see one of these oldies.

Thanks!

Yeah I don't have a scanner though >< Plus it was taken in artificial light where the brighter spectral points of light caused obvious glare. :S I could repeat this in natural light (Like now in NZ)

Oh and resolution? These are actually about 5500x6000 on my computer but not many sites allow for 14Mb images ^_^

Okay here we go in Hi Res and compressed a little bit. Split each into 3 parts and flipped the tops so you can read them ^_^

And the obliteration of the giant Hidden Mickey can clearly be seen.

Thank you so much for posting the map for us! :thumbsup2

Oh my goodness thank you for pointing that out!!! That is awesome, by far the most clever hidden Mickey I've ever seen!!! Too bad it can't be seen anymore.

Huh? I don't see it...

By any chance does someone have a modern park map I can use to compare?

The closest I can see is under the 'studio backlot tour' or "M" on the map, looks to be an orange circle, (the face), a mouth and eyes as the flowers. That's all upside down though?

Yes, the Hidden Mickey is upside down. You're seeing most of it, you just left out Echo Lake as the ear . . . there appears to be no other ear, though.

That's why I left it out :P You can see details of the face around the forehead line. Mickey's right hand side is half under a building though
