Disney messed up our reservation--Help!!!

This reminds me of something that happened to me 6 years ago when I made my Disneyland reservations through AAA. I made payments directly to AAA using my charge card, which they passed on to Disney.

Just like JacksLilWench, I got a notice showing a balance due when I knew I had paid it off. It turns out that the AAA travel agent who took one of my payments deposited it into the AAA account but neglected to transfer the funds to Disney. Once the problem was identified, AAA transferred the funds to Disney and everything was settled.

Just saying - this might have been what happened in this case.

but if this was the case this time, shouldn't jackslilwench be able to see where it came out of her account?:confused3

Well, we figured it out.

It looks like it never came out of my account, so we just owe that $200. And Disney is letting us keep the reservation instead of cancellation for non-payment.

The whole situation is really weird and quite frankly, pisses me off. It's not like the payment was supposed to be processed during the time the system underwent a rehab/update. This was a payment that was supposed to be processed in JUNE, not October. And it took until this week to realize it? After we've made how many other payments, and all the proceeding reciepts show the balance and payment processed? I mean, I'm not an accountant and certainly not a number whiz, but that just seems sketch to me. Fortunately we DO have an awesome TA that went to bat for us. But the situation leaves me with a pretty bad taste in my mouth about Disney.

OP, I'm curious as to how you missed it. Did you just forget to write down that transaction in your checking register? If I wrote down a $200 transaction and then it never cleared, I would notice it very quickly. I've had transactions take awhile to clear and I highlight it until it does clear.

I wouldn't be too happy if I found I out I owed $200 when I thought I was already paid up either, however I understand mistakes happen sometimes. You said yourself you've never had a problem before, always had good service before. Disney isn't perfect as much as we would like to think so.

Can't you just look at your statements and see if the extra $200 was actually deducted from your account or charged to your credit card?

And I don't think they expect you to pull $200 out of your butt. If your package was say, $1000 and you actually only paid $800, did you not notice the extra $200 in your account, or on your credit card balance?

Sounds pretty simple to me. :confused3

I can see how the OP missed it. We don't balance our checking account on a regular basis and we wouldn't really catch $200 coming or going or not coming and going, as a result....heck, DH missed our tax refund being deposited (but don't get me started on that...:scared1:)...so glad to hear it worked out for the OP in the end! Enjoy your trip!

How do you not notice an amount as large as $200? Do you keep alot in your checking account? Maybe its because I only keep $100 extra in ours (in case one of us needs to pull cash from an ATM when we are out and not get to a computer to transfer funds) and the rest is in a savings account (more interest) so I just can't imagine not noticing I had extra money that I didn't think I should have

Yes, we do, although alot to me may not be alot to you or vise versa. We all do our budgets differently, we all make and spend and save differently. I won't make any judgements or ask questions on how anyone does their checking account...because it ain't mine to judge!

I am just glad the OP got it figured out and she is good to go:goodvibes

I'm glad it worked out for you. Personally I would be upset with my TA not Disney as they (the TA) should be reconciling the statements they gave you with the ones they got from Disney on your account. Plus it is possible that the TA is the one who didn't process the $200 with Disney on your behalf.

I don't think Disney would know that you hadn't made your June payment. They don't have a monthly payment schedule (that I'm aware of, anyway). They take the deposit, tell the guest how much is owed by what date and it's up to the guest to make the payments in whatever way they like. Disney would only know that you haven't made the final one, when they check the account to make sure payment has been made in full.

that's what I was thinking too....from what others have said on here about there TA's logging the payment into the AAA system and then not making the payment to Disney....sounds more like what happened...and Disney would not notify anyone til you reach that 45 day mark when it is suppose to be paid in full, which is when they (Disney) caught it

In this case I'd definitely be on the TA not Disney... the TA took your money and therefore was responsible to ensure Disney got it.

We've actually never had a problem with our TA before with ANY of the vacations we've ever taken while dealing with her. In this situation, DISNEY was the one that said THEIR system messed up and it was THEIR fault. Our TA did everything she was supposed to, and didn't just forget to transfer money. This was a gaffe on Disney's part, NOT my TA.

I know it's annoying, but at some point you just got to accept it and move on as long as you didn't overpay. I wish the world were perfect.

This must of been really stressful for you! I remember when I swore blind I had bought tickets, but then couldn't find the receipt for them anywhere and realised I must not of confirmed the transaction!

I don't think any real blame can be placed anywhere, and it all worked out for the best, even if it did scare the heck out of you for a little while. Best just to move on, and focus on your magical Disney vacation!

Have a good trip! :wizard:

seriously. glad everything got worked out in the end, but i think we could all use a reality check here - these are systems designed by people, and those systems, like people, are imperfect. Gotta roll with the punches sometimes, folks.
