I am thinking of getting this. Need some answers first - thanks for any help

1. Ride photos- do we need to be at the photo desk in time to see these come up to get them - In the past we have struggled to do this as I am disabled and need a bit extra time getting out. Can they call up the photo if you have missed it . Do you then jot down the number for later

2. If our party splits up can both groups still get photos or just the group with me. I will not last the pace all day so in the afternoon my MIL, DH and I plan to chill and people watch while the teens/21yr olds go do their own thing.

3, We don't plan on purchasing the magic bands are the needed for the memory maker.

Any other tips on using this would be great. We have never bothered before.

Can they call up the photo if you have missed it .

they can call up any picture as long as you tell them where and when. It just takes time.

Do you then jot down the number for later

you can do that, some rides will even have CMs by the screens writing the number for you on a stub.

let me answer 3. first

if you don't have a magic band, you'll be given a Memory Maker card.

photographers will scan your card and pictures will be added on that card.
you'll need to add that card to your photopass account. (note the card number in case it's lost.)

2. If our party splits up can both groups still get photos or just the group with me. .

since you won't have the MBs, you'll only have one Memory Maker Card.

so here are your options :

you split up and only one group does a ride with a picture. Give them the card, and they be able to add the picture onto it.

if you split up and more than one group requires the memory maker card, then the group(s) that don't have the card will need to write down the picture number.
Before you exit the park, you (or one member of your party) will need to go back to the ride's sales center (shop) with the card and number in order to have the picture added
ride pictures are stored during 2 days in the system, so be sure to go the the ride's shop to add them before you leave the park

if some of you do rides several times, no need to go to the shop after each ride, note all picture numbers, and have them added in one go once you're ready to leave that ride for good.

meanwhile, you'll still be able to use regular photopass cards for all of the other pictures taken in the parks ( non ride pictures)
you'll also need to add every regular photopass card to your photopass account, along with the memory maker card.

We always just make a note of the number, then tell them the last digits at the desk and they will add the photo to the MM.

As far as I have read, though, they are now using the long range RFID in the Magic Bands to add the pictures from the rides automatically to your MM.

As long as you are all linked on MDE and the others have the ability to view and purchase photos, any photos they get using their MBs will be added to the MM account. The only exception here is that they might have to go to the desk to have the pictures added as, if you are the account holder, it will probably only recognise that you have the MM entitlement so would probably not automatically add anyone else's ride pictures.

Having said all that, if you don't plan to purchase Magic Bands, you will need to make sure whoever is at the parks has the MM card to get the pictures added at the ride desk if you were not actually present on the ride (meaning somebody will need to note the numbers to have them added). Ride pictures need to be added to the card at the ride where they were taken.

As for other photos, I would suggest that each person gets a photopass card and you just add the pictures at the photo center at the end of each day.

this is where the MM policy is obscure and the wording is strange

from what I could get.

MM is assigned to a guest, hence to a MDX account.

As it seems, any guest on that guest's booking (same room, not just friends) will be able to be "recognized" by the ride and ride pictures should be added to the guest who owns the MM entitlement.

The FAQ does state that ONLY the guest with the MM entitlement is allowed to add the ride picture to his/her account. The catch being that guests can have their own MDX account AND be part of the booking on another guests account

let me try to be more specific

Mr and Mrs Chmurf do Disney, and both have a MDX account.

Mr and Mrs Chmurf are on the same booking as they stay onsite.

Mr Chmurf owns the MM entitlement.

Mrs Chmurf decides to ride Splash Mountain solo. She has her picture taken. The ride detects her magic band, aknowledges that she's on a booking where there is a MM+ entitlement, even though she's not the owner, she's on the booking.
So, her picture is supposed to be added to Mr Chmurf's MDX account.
Mrs Chmurf will not be allowed to add that picture to HER MDX account, but will be able to add it to the account managing the booking she's on, and where there is an active MM+ entitlement

So far, it seems that it's how it's supposed to work, but it's what I could get from the policy, and I would like to know if this is correct and actually what happens

now this is of no use to OP, since it seems that this would require a booking. Just being family and friends does not appear to be sufficient.

If anyone has firsthand information about being on the same booking and having ride picture automatically added without the MM+ owner being on board, please come forward :)

Yes, to clarify chmurf (sorry, don't know your real name - I hate to address people by their username) I was answering the question on the basis that I knew the OP was staying offsite. But I did (and do) know that it automatically adds ride pictures by picking up the MB of anybody who is on the same booking as someone with a MM entitlement. And I have heard poitive reports that it has happened. And I am hoping that it definitely does work that way since, at some points in October, there will be 9 of us on my booking and we won't necessarily be on the same rides at the same time, nor even in the same parks.

thank you for this.
being disabled myself, I don't always ride with DW and DS, so that's a relief to have a confirmation.

I can confirm the auto linking of ride photos to Magic bands is working.

I think if I was offsite in a large group and splitting up it may be worth looking at getting MBs so everyone can get the ride photos without having to share the one card you get.

Hi Tracy, hope you're having a ball. Is it definitely adding the photos of rides where you haven't all ridden? I know I have read that this happens but it's always nicer (more reassuring) when somebody you know tells you that it works :thumbsup2

thanks everyone I think from what I gather here we will buy a few bands to share about.

Do disney have any photos that can be added to this in ddt or board walk or resorts and water parks.

thanks

I have yet to see a Photopass photographer at DTD but I have seen plenty of other people's photos from there posted, so I suspect that it's because I am usually too busy stuffing my face with ice-cream at Ghirardelli Soda Fountain than looking out for photographers :rotfl:

They are definitely at the water parks, but never seen them on the Boardwalk and the only time I've seen one at the resorts was one year, at Animal Kingdom Lodge, they had a phtographer in the lobby doing some formal shots. We got quite a few of our group that night, over about a thirty minute session :thumbsup2 Having said that, I don't think that's a regular occurence.

There was one at the Boardwalk when we were there a couple of years ago but I've only seen that one there that one time and have visited Board Walk often. I've never seen one at DTD either. They have them in the deluxe resorts Christmas week parked next to the Christmas tree/display.

lol, we happened to find a photographer around DTD (christmas decorations near Design a Tee) but never once at a waterpark (must be a season thing :) )

we also had that kind of opportunity at AKL.

Actually, the photographers at Photopass desks (only at Deluxes) will only take guests for a "private shooting" so to speak, if the day is slow.

When we had that opportunity at AKL, the photographer was alone by his screens and looked really bored. We stopped to check a few pictures on our account, and he was more than happy to take us on a grand tour of the lobby (he would probably have fallen asleep otherwise ... lol)

long story short, if it's busy, not a chance, but if it's a slow day at the office, then ask a photographer and you might be lucky :)

Another question from yours truly! honestly I'm like a 5 year old! Having read the thread I think I am right in what I am away to say so here's hoping!

We are staying on site. will have MB's and we are thinking of getting MM before we go and linking it to our/my MDE account.

We go on a ride say "Splash Mountain" it will automatically pick us up and add our ride photo to our MM account?

Memory Maker – Frequently Asked Questions
Q.

How long can I capture photos at Walt Disney World Resort with my Memory Maker purchase?

A.

You can begin capturing photos as soon as you purchase Memory Maker. Once you download the first photo—or otherwise redeem your Memory Maker purchase—you then have 30 days to capture more photos. Please remember to download your photos before they expire.

If you purchased Memory Maker at the advance purchase price, photos taken within 3 days of the date of purchase will not be included in Memory Maker and must be purchased separately.

Sorry in advance if this question has already been asked. I'm trying to understand what would happen with memory maker if a party is split between 2 ride vehicles on the same ride. For example if my party of 4 is split up between 2 ride vehicles on space mountain, will pictures for each ride vehicle show up in my account since it's linked to everyone's magic band? Or will it only be one photo of one ride vehicle because it is pretty much the same time? I hope I'm asking this question in a way it makes sense! When I asked on the phone during a call for another issue all I was told was if the party splits up and rides the same ride at different times of the day both photos will appear. Not exactly what I was asking. I'm sure someone has been in a similar situation and can give me a better answer. Thanks!

Hi just wanted to add to this thread- we got the attractions + photo pass (which is $49)- This card is for all the rides that give out photos - as many times as you ride- But when out there we also found out that all photos can be added to it just the same as memory maker- however, to get proper downloads you have to pay $14.99 for all non ride photos - But we were able to copy the thumnails from the site without issue- the quality seems ok ( but not as good as the downloaded ride photos but as good as my own digital camera)- read through all the blurb there did not seem to be any info to prevent us doing so.
