Disney Member Cruise insurance question

You know I realized that they didn't tell me or ask me about insurance when I booked today for my cruise. I don't remember from my first cruise but how does that work. Since this is in September I want insurance. Do they send it in the confirmation for you to buy it and if you paid with cash is it the same way. Someone help me please.

When you get your confermation in the mail it will have the insurance information. You have to call and pay for that seperately.
I think its Travelguard that Disney sends you the info from.

When I booked she mentioned insurance and if I want it to call 866-690-6858 and mention DVC ID 007004, that was all she said.

I noticed on the flyer I got with a recent reservation that the premium has gone up a little bit. The reimbursement is $5 per point, the premium is 5.15% of the reimbursement, minimum premium $29.00.

Example - 150 points

150 points x $5 = $750 reimbursement
Premium - $750 x 5.15% = $38.63

I really don't think it's a good deal. My December 6 night BWV 1 bedroom reservation is 155 points. I would get $775 as reimbursement if I canceled or $129 per night. The room racks over $400! Even if you are forced to rent holding account points you could get $5 per point. If you consider the premium, you are only getting $4.74 per point.

If the insurance reimbursed $10 per point or restored the points, I might go for it.

That is so true. Now could you get your own travel insurance or that wouldn't work because of the points... I paid an adult with cash and used 209 points for the rest.

Yes you can use a different insurance carrier.

We have had a very positive experience with Travel Guard and they have won our business. Given that this cruise will be during the "season" , don't want to use the H word. Insurance will be a very good investment.
