We booked our Florida vacation with Virgin Holidays nearly six months ago, we don't fly out until the end of November. We booked early to be sure of getting a good flight and the hotel we wanted.

Silly me just checked the Virgin Holiday website and found out they are now offering a Megadeal, the exact same flights, the exact same hotel but a whopping £62.80 cheaper EACH! Over 10% off. This is only available for new bookings, and I know that if we had waited we could have run the risk of not getting a holiday at all.

It just irks me that we are not rewarded for our forward planning and giving a sizeable deposit to Virgin for them to keep for a whole year.

Still, that's the way the cookie crumbles, apologies for my first post being a moan. Roll on the end of November for our return trip.

it is very annoying when you find a holiday cheaper but you have the satisfaction of knowing that you've booke dthe holiday you want & haven't had to settle for second best.


Will this be your 2nd visit?????

I couldn't agree more, although I do sympathise with those who can't get definite holiday dates from work a long way ahead.

There are sometimes deals for free children's places, etc., for booking holidays well in advance, but these never seem to cover the dates / destinations that we're interested in! Still, I assume someone must be able to benefit from these offers.
 
Cassius69 - the same thing happened last year when we went to St Luica - and we're Frequent Virgins. I phoned up the Virgin Hols booking people who couldn't give a monkeys - they're view was that it was tough luck on us:mad: :mad:

Not one to sit around and shrug off this sort of thing, I wrote a letter to Virgin Holidays and pointed out the reason why I'm a Frequent Virgin is that I'm a loyal customer. Why shouldn't I get the same price they were now offering? I got a very nice letter back giving me the same price holiday:D Happy people all around.

Give it your best shot . . . . Virgin don't like it when you say about customer loyalty etc.

It happened to me as well. I booked flydrives for feb 05 from their 04 to April 05 broucher because they were offering early booking discount. When the 05 broucher came out the flights were cheaper than I paid. I complained to VTS by phone, was told back luck! I emailed their customer services and they decided to allow the lower price as a gesture of good will :)

So it is worth persuing and see what happens. Otherwise there is no bennefit to booking early.
