Disney Med Cruise I need your help

Ok so having finally got over the shock of winning a 10 night Disney Med Cruise panic has now set in I have no idea about cruising so I am hoping someone can put me at ease.
There will be me,DH,DS who is 10 and DD who is 4.
We have been allocated a room on deck 2, looking at the map it is in the centre by the elevators is this a good place?
DH is worrying about what to wear he is happy to wear shirt and tie for Formal/semi formal night but what do people tend to wear on the other nights he also wants to know what to wear the day of boarding.
I understand the dress code is no shorts for dinner but does that also include cropped trousers DS would feel much happier if he could wear those with a nice shirt.
How do we pay for things is everything done with a credit card or can you use cash?
Do you take euros with you or can you exchange money onboard?
If anyone has any tips for first time cruisers or the best place to read up on all I need to know I would be very grateful, I have looked over on the Cruise forum but I just didn't know where to start

Your DH will be fine with trousers and a polo shirt in the dining rooms.

All purchases on board will be charged to your stateroom account by using your key card (your KTTW - Key to the World). You can provide a credit card number when completing your documents online before boarding or visit Guest Services to add cash to your account once you are onboard.

anyway, yes, DH will fit right in wearing a polo shirt and trousers...
("cruise casual")....
my son was 15 the first time we cruised and he also wore a polo shirt and trousers to dinner...the rest of the time he was in shorts and a t-shirt..

as for stateroom location - the centre of the ship is considered the best in terms of stability - not feeling any rocking motion...

Disney cruising is very casual, wear whatever you are comfortable with. I usually wear Polo shirts most evenings with Shirt and Tie for Formal/Semi formal nights.

Never done a European cruise only from Port Canaveral so used Dollars for tips, Credit card for everything else. You can use Credit card for everything incl tips if you wanted.

Thank you everyone for your replies. DH feels much better now, just got to work with DS now and find him clothes that he is happy with. I assume DD will be ok wearing her Disney costumes to dinner, she has given me a list of the ones she wants!!! Then that just leaves me, I have enlisted the help of some good friends to come shopping with me.
We won the cruise by entering a competition run by Disney and I never thought for a million years we would win.
A big thank you to Wayne for sharing your wonderful photos, the food looks out of this world so my diet is starting today. DD saw the photo of your cabin door and has said we must do ours so that will be my next task.
