Disney May 22-28... anyone else?

We are heading to Disney 5/22-5/28... we leave the Friday before Memorial day weekend actually begins..... anyone else worried about the crowds that week?
Anyone been the week BEFORE Memorial Day that can tell me about the crowds?
We historically go Sept & October so I am really not sure what to expect.
Sept was great... October was definately more crowded but managable.....

we were there last year the week before and into memorial day ( 5-19 to 5-26 ) and the crowds were lite to moderate ( on wed we had 3 different elementary schools on a Field trip to MK but they showed up at 10 am and were gone by 3:30 pm ) on Friday of memorial weekend it got a little more crowded because its also star wars weekend at HS so that park gets crowded fast so unless your really into star wars ( no flames please ) do this park in the middle of the week

We'll be there that week (and the week before also) and I didn't even realize it was a holiday weekend (DH is a pilot so holidays really don't mean much to me when planning vacations since he doesn't get holidays off automatically and I'm a SAHM).

Since more people will be at DHS, I think we'll just stick to the other parks that weekend or make one of those days a down day at the resort since we'll be there for so long and do DHS other days.

I have been to WDW during this time of year but it was YEARS ago and I don't remember it being bad at all crowd wise, but I also don't remember it being a Star Wars weekend (not sure how long they have been doing it), plus I didn't have kids then so lines didn't bother me or weren't as noticeable to me then as they are now.

I was there that week last year as well. Felt the crowds were not that bad at all-was kinda hard to judge cause of all the rain though. For those of you who are going this year we have a group PTR going-"MAYhem with the Mouse" where we are planning meets etc. Feel free to come say hi. Link is in my siggy.

Hi.

We are going this week also. It is the first trip for my DS 2 1/2 and my father 67. We are leaving that Friday in an attempt to avoid the Memorial Day crowds. Hopefully it works!

And, now that someone has mentioned it, we shall avoid DHS on that Friday.

We are also going down for the same week. In 2006, we went the week of Memorial Day. I thought it was going to be packed, but it wasn't that bad. We had also gone the week of Thanksgiving in the past and to me that week was much worse than the week of Memorial Day. I was thinking it might be a little less crowded because it is the week before we went last time. I am hoping at least. We did follow the touringplans suggestion for what park we should go to on which day. Good luck!

Our first trip was the week before the Memorial Day weekend, and we'll be there that same time this year. Don't expect the crowds to be bad. I was pleasantly suprised how low they were on our first trip. We waited no more than 30 for most rides.

We've been in Oct. for the last two years, and I would say crowds that week in May are probably comparable, maybe slightly lower, than when we went in Oct. (first week). This past Oct. seemed more crowded than in 2008, but this go around free dining was ending.

I went with ds family last year to grammy sit. the week prior to Memorial Day. I usually took our family during last Sept, early Oct. May is tough on my Asthma.
But last year, we had down pours everyday. Not the kind you can put on some crocs and poncho. The kind that closed about everyting.

It was a unique system that hung over and brought tornado's to the north of us, and near Daytona. In fact on the drive home we stopped at the Daytona speedway and 12 hrs later the tunnel of the track area was under feet of water.

We've been the past two years for 10 and 12 days with the holiday weekend in the middle of our trips.

The crowds were much lighter the week before, very busy on the weekend, and then still heavier the following week than they were before the holiday.

We never have any problems with lines, but we go to EMH rope drop almost every day and use FPs or just do the less popular attractions in the afternoon/evening.

We enjoy May and plan to go earlier in the month (at least before Memorial Day) for our next trip.

were going this year the week of the 17th-23rd hoping for light crowds also, i had a freind who went last year during memorial day week, and looking at her pics the crowds did not look that bad, but she did say it rained just about every day for about an hour or so and said to buy all our ponchos before we went to disney, since they were crazy $$$$ down there

We are going May 27-June 1st. We are planning on going to SWW on Friday and if we want/need a 2nd day, we'll do that too. Our plan this trip is to have no plans. I'm really excited about it!!!

We will be down there May 27-June 5. This is the time we usually go. School is out the Friday before and I will finish closing out my classroom on Tuesday. Wednesday we pack and then up and on the road by 4am on Thursday. We love this time of the year. Crowds are fine... we have even done some things at HS with the Starwars Weekend crowd. (and had fun!!)
