Here's my problem. DH, DD4, DD6, and myself will be in WDW 12/22-12/28. We have several 2 TS credit meals we want to do. We also want to to TS credits on the other nights. Would it be a better deal to upgrade to the Deluxe DP and get the extra meals, appetizers, and snacks or just pay OOP for the extras?

Here is our plan as is:
12/22 Chef Mickey's
12/23 CRT (2 TS)
12/24 Brown Derby w/ Fantasmic! (2 TS)
12/25 Rose and Crown w/ Illuminations pkg. (2 TS)
12/26 Whispering Canyon?
12/27 Be Our Guest
check our 12/28 am

Thanks!

What is the Rose & Crown Illuminations package? Or did you mean the Candlelight Processional package (the special Christmas show at Epcot?) That is 2 TS credits...but otherwise, there is no package to see Illuminations (the night-time fireworks/spectacular show.) If you're wanting to watch that from Rose & Crown it's (1) not reservable...you get a reservation for around 7.30 or 7.45, and take your chances on getting an outside table, they will not let you wait for one and (2) it is only 1 TS credit per person to eat at Rose & Crown during Illuminations time.

Not sure it would be worth it to upgrade to deluxe. If you wanted to do the regular dining plan, I'd do Wispering Canyon, Chef Mickey's and Be our Guest for breakast (paying cash for all three) and use your 6 TS credits for CRT, BRown Derby and Rose & Crown (if you're wanting that for Candlelight Processional)

It's laborious, but I looked at the menus on AllEars.net for each of our desired TS and QS meals, figured OOP knowing each member's eating habits then compared it to each of the dining plans with likely OOP add ons.

For instance, even with the regular dining plan I know we'd each get an additional QS meal per day.

The latter proved cheaper by about a thousand dollars for 5 adults and three kids. The trade off is less choice since some of us would typically order appetizers, salads, and soups.

As a general rule...DlxDP is good if you use 2/3 of the credits for TS meals. By your count (as others have said not sure about Illuminations package or how Be Our Guest will work), you would have 18 credits and use 9 for TS...doesn't seem to be a good idea. (Unless you added a few breakfasts or lunches)

Also, it looks like the appetizer is not important for 3 out of the 6 meals since they are family style, buffet or include an app (I think Fantasmic packages do include an app for regular DDP :confused3).

If you use regular DDP, it is usually better to pay OOP for 2 TS meals as they don't add up to be worth 2 credits

Yes, I did mean CP package, not Illuminations. The big draw for the Deluxe is that all meals can be either QS or TS. But, with crowd levels do we really want to waste lots of time eating big sit down dinners? :confused3
