Well, I wasn't sure the best forum to post this in, so if anyone has a better suggestion, let me know!

Anyway, has anyone ever particpated in the Walt Disney World Marathon? My husband is thinking about doing this. (If he does, it will move our trip up five months to January ins tead of May :) Anyone?

I believe registration for the 2002 marathon is closed. They start registering in March I believe and it fills pretty quickly. I've read some good trip reports on another board-Deb wills site. If he hasn't registered, he may have to consider 2003 which is what I am going to do.

Unless, it is not up to date, I just saw at Disneysports.com that the 1/2 marathon is closed, but not the full marathon.

Hi,
DH and I did the half-marathon this year and signed up for it again in 2002. We had a great time. I was almost in tears running through the castle (which makes it very difficult to breath!). If your husband likes running and Disney, he will love this marathon. And another great thing, the parks are empty the week after the race. It's a wonderful time to go, a little cold. We can't wait to do it again!
:D
ps. I would sign up fast if he decides to do it.

Hi,

I called the CM at disneyworldsports.com yesterday. The half marathon closed three weeks after the registration opened, but she thought the marathon was still available. She was trying to answer questions by reading me the brochure. I signed up for the Disney 10K Classic in October.

Pigletliz,
If you really want to do the half, you can sign up for the full, then later in the year(I think Nov) you request to do the half and they switch you over. The only downfall is you have to pay for the full.

I hadn't heard about the 10K. That should be fun.
:D

Hi,

Does anyone know the route details for the 1/2 or full marathon?

Any links to the website would be useful!

Thanks for the info Buttercup :)

I already have plans for visiting Tampa on Columbus Day weekend, so the 10K will actually fit my plans for this year. But I will definitely do the half or full marathon in 2003!
