Since the race begins at 5:30, what do most people do about breakfast? Are there locations that open especially on this day??

I think some of the food courts are open...but I honestly just grab a bagel and a banana (standard pre-race meal for me) the day before. One less thing to do when you have to wake up in the middle of the night!

Most of the food courts are open, but I don't even bother with them. I eat the same thing I've been eating on my long runs during the previous few months. Nothing new on race day. :)

Also, this may not be the case everywhere, but at the Poly this January I found that when I went to pick up a bagel the evening before, the pastry/baked goods area didn't have any breakfast items available - so if a bagel is what you want, you might want to pick it up in the morning in case they're not available later in the day.

All resorts have their fast food area open on rae morning. Echoing, you need to grab what eveer is important to you and that does not need refrigeration the mooning before. Rely on them on Rae mooring for milk, juice, coffee......

I always have my race morning food ahead of time just to be safe. I wouldn't want to head to a food court and find out only then that what I want for race morning isn't available.

I too echo what has been said. Be prepared with your own. My resort race morning did not have anything open. Also, if you bring a couple of dollars they sell some things, I am not sure what, as you go to the lot before getting to the corrals. I will bring money for coffee. I like a sip or few as I wait.

And make sure you bring CASH with you on race morning if you want to purchase any food or drink at the race... they didn't take my resort ID and I don't believe they took credit cards either! :)

I plan to just purchase something for breakfast the evening before the race too... something portable so I can eat it once I get to the race. Eating at 3 am is just too early for me! I'm already conditioning myself before my long runs for what I'll eat race day morning January 8th!

I am with a lot of the others...I get my food the night before so that I can eat while getting ready. Although there are ways to get food the morning of, I can't take a chance that my race day food isn't available. That would be a disaster.

That's exactly the right thing to do. That's why I always travel with my Clif Bars and Powerade. Experiment and get adjusted now so there are no surprises or worries on race day.
