Hi all!!!! We are going with a large group to the Disney Marathon in January. There will be about 25-30 of us.

Has anyone ever been to the pasta dinner the night before? Is it good? Is it worth it, or is it better to plan a large group dinner at one of the restaurants?
Thanks!

Although I ran WDW in 2000 I did not go to the pasta dinner. However, I have been to a number of other marathon pasta dinners. I've stopped going to them. Trying to serve dinner to several thousand people just makes for bad food. It is unreasonable to expect a good meal with so many people. As an example, New York's pasta dinner -- in my humble opinion -- is awful, and Boston wasn't much better. These dinners are a fun social event, but the food is mediocre at best.

I'd recommend going to another restaurant the night before.

Enjoy the race.

We're doing our own pizza dinner on Friday night and our own pasta dinner on Sat night. Just the 8 of us.

When DH did the 2001 and 2002 Marathons, we had our own pasta dinner at Tony's in Magic Kingdom.

Did someone say Pasta Dinner? I just love Pasta, I hardly order it out, I will get it as a side dish but not my mail meal! I just don't like it at alot of places! I think I would make reservations somewhere else. As the poster stated when you are having if for several thousand people, well, it might be good, but then you never know!

I find it very good at The Grand Floridian (Park Fare) and Tony's. I would also try Epcot Italy in the The Lands.

OK what time are we eating? Now I am going to have to make some homemade Pasta this week! :p

Last year, we went by the place where they had the marathon dinner, and it was PACKED!!!! We ended up at Mama Melrose's in MGM. THey didn't specifically have a pasta dish that we wanted on the menu, so they said they would make whatever we wanted. We just picked a pasta and a sauce. One of our friends braved the pasta dinner and said he waited over an hour to get his food, and then had to stand to eat it. I would suggest going for a sit-down restaurant. That's what we will do again this year. :flower:

WISH team is eating at Trail's end...YUM!!!

A little birdie told me last year that most of the restaurants on property will have some type of carb loading dish to eat from. So if you have no luck with the Pasta Party, check around and you will find something.

You want to get booking now. We had issues booking our group...but we have about 70 people. If you plan on doing a restaurant that is.

Good luck and enjoy the weekend...and hey, come visit the training thread on the WISH boards!
