Hi, relatively new to the forums, going to WDW late October / early November 2012.

I have just read there is a WDW Marathon, I've had a look and it looks amazing. I have recently started to train for the 2nd time to start triathlon; I injured knee cartilage in work. I used to be a rugby player but after this injury I have had to accept I am a man made of glass:(

I am planning to run a sprint tri a month from March '13 - May '13 and race my first Olympic distance in June '13.

Anyway ... to the point of my post ... Does anybody know; Is the WDW Marathon always in the first couple of weeks of January? I really fancy running that, and if it helps convince DW we should return to WDW in 2014 all the better.

Thanks

Last year was Jan 6-7 I believe and this week is Jan 12-13. I think this year is the latest it will ever be. Great time of year around Disney. I ran my first Goofy last year and doing it again this year. I am also a triathlete and Ironman so keep up the good work and stay healthy!

In general, marathon weekend is the weekend AFTER the first Monday of the year. Sometimes, Disney has run the marathon on 1/6, but it is about 50:50 running on the 6th or the 13th.

Expect the dates to align close to :

2013 - Jan 10-13 (th - su) 20TH ANNIVERSARY
2014 - JAN 9 - 12
2015 - JAN 8 - 11 - 10th Goofy
2016 - JAN 7 - 10
2017 - Jan 5 - 8 - 15th Half
2018 - Jan 4 - 7 - 25th Anniversary
2019 - Jan 10 - 13 (but may be the 3-6)

then it slides back a week the following year, if not in 2019

Probably more info than wanted - and of course, Disney may always change up based on perceived guest loading and other activities.
