I'm looking to use the bus service when we arrive at MCO to get to the BWI but on the return trip to the airport we will be at a Universal resort and plan to just take a cab. Does anyone have any idea how to handle this and if it is a problem?

Make a reservation for a DME pick up on the way in and don't make one for the way home. If they book you a reservation for the return anyway, just cancel it when you get to BWI or call the DME number to cancel. It will not be a problem at all. Using DME just one way is perfectly acceptable.
