Well, let me report that they haven't worked out the kinks of this service that started May 1st, and we were not the only ones who had a bad experience.

Upon arrival at the airport, Disney says your luggage will be waiting for you in your room when you arrive. We arrived at Movies at 10:00PM and were told to not expect our luggage until after midnight. We never got it until 2:30 PM! I can't imagine if we had arrived early in the day and wanted to get to the parks but needed stuff from our luggage- I'd be fuming! The worst of it for us was sleeping in our clothes and not being able to brush our teeth.

At this point, I would get my own luggage at the airport and bring it to the resort. They never told us that there might be a delay. We spoke to several other people at Movies and other resorts (went pool hopping) who had the same experience.

me and some of my friends went to disneyworld by plane but the bus was stuck in the way from the airport and i got so mad.

This might be a good place to mention something that frequent travelers have learned:
Be sure to pack at least a day's worth of clothing, tolietries and meds in a carry-on. That way, when you bag gets mis-routed, your trip won't be ruined.

Note the use of "when". Even though airlines have gotten better at this over the years, it does still happen and you should be prepared in case it happens to you.

Pool hopping?

You've never pool hopped? It's when you go from resort to resort trying out the pools- it's great fun! This was an adult only trip and we didn't go to any parks.

Jackie

Uh Oh......Drum roll pleeeeease.......

Pool hopping is perfectly acceptable and allowed by the resorts- all except The Yacht and Beach Club. In fact, they encourage it.

I wonder why all the pools have signage that states that the pool is only for the use of those staying at that particular resort then. Nope, it is not perfectly acceptable unless you are a DVC member and most of them don't bother to pool hop. And DVC can not hop to either SAB or AKL pool.

As far as having to sleep in your clothes...this would be why most of us carry anything we may need for the next 6 hrs. in our carry-on bags. I carry toothbrush/paste, deod, brush, tee-shirt for sleeping or changing into when I get to resort, a pr of shorts and a bathing suit. We all figured there would be many glitches to DME for at least a month. Seems that most are getting workded out now.

You're kidding, right?????

The only people allowed to pool hop are DVC members, and there are restrictions on that, too (no AKL or Y/BC).

If you're not kidding, please be aware that you're breaking the rules and if the lifeguards ask for your resort ID (and yes, they do this), you'll be told to leave immediately.

Geez- what's with the eyeball rolling? do you people think before you type- you really can come off as a bunch of snobs.

I did a quick search and see that pool-hopping is frowned upon, however, when we asked at the various resorts, we were welcomed with open arms, by the cm's AND lifeguards. Explain that one.

Sorry, but we are not being snobs. The pool policy is what is written down by Disney, at all of the pools. Most of us realize that the lifeguards will let you in. But, and this it the biggie...when you have paid a lot of money to stay at, say the Polynesian, and you can't get a pool chaise or the line at the pool slide is about 20 people long, and then you overhear many people saying how maybe the next time they should stay here and not at AllStarMusic, well...it's annoying. But, we all know that there are those who will do what they want. I can't be bothered worrying about what you do. I'm on vacation for heaven's sake. Do what you feel is right. Just don't be surprised when a CM does come up to you and ask for resort ID. It happens. I have seen it happen so far at the Polynesian and at Boardwalk pools.

I would be very surprised if you are 'welcomed with open arms by CM's and lifeguards'. More likely it isn't a busy time of year and the pool isn't crowded. But watch out if it's hot and during a busy time of year.

The last I was told was that pool hopping was officially not allowed, except for All Star and Port Orleans guests using the sister resort pools.

Did not hear about DVC guests, although they may have some special privileges here and there.

Disney hints:

It sounds like someone wants to start an argument. I'm not biting. If this was really about ME you should have posted your concerns on the transportation board. Also mentioning pool hopping has nothing to do with Magical Express so why bring it up unless it's to start an uproar?

Yep, it's one of the DVC perks. We just can't hop on over to SAB at Y/BC or Uzima at AKL. I couldn't be bothered lugging stuff around with me. I just stay with the pool at my particular resort.

My snob comment was referring to the eyeball rolling, not the rules. I can understand rules, just didn't know about them. We even asked at the resort desk and spoke to a couple lifeguards (this was last week, hot and crowded) and were told it was fine- thanks for insinuating that I'm lying. Will I do it again? Doubtful, now that I know there is a rule against it.

To the other poster who thinks I'm trying to stir up trouble, see what you want, I was just sharing a tip about ME and posted it on the wrong board. I mentioned pool hopping(not knowing it was a hot topic) as you can see, I'm fairly new here. I mentioned it to explain why I was at other resorts talking about ME experiences.

Some of you might want to remember to take your kindness pills in the morning.

Please, nobody take the bait on this. Just ignore it and it will go away.

Sounds like they are working on it - the more responses on the Transportation Board the better things seem to be going along. I guess when you use a brand new service you should expect some "glitches" sorry that happend to you.

FWIW - no matter what type of ground transportation we use I always plan for the day. If we arrive in the am our carry on has the things we need for the day - either at the pool or parks. If we were arriving as you did, in the evening I would have a change of clothes and toiletries in the carry on. Easier said than done with a family of 4 but so worth it. Airlines have been known to loose luggage and I don't even think ME is advertising that your bags will beat you anymore. AA once lost our bags (before kids luckily) but dh I had enough for the day and the airline delivered the luggage to the resort later that evening.

I am surprised you mention "pool hopping" but for future record this isn't allowed except for sister resorts, DVC and perhaps a rehab of the main pool at your resort.

I guess I thought that since they know there are some glitches in timing, that they would have mentioned it at the airport, to give us a choice as to whether we wanted to get our own bags or take the chance. Luckily, it was just us grown-ups.

The eyeball rolling comes from this being an old debate, and from your making a statement in an authoritative tone about something that was absolutely incorrect.

It has nothing to do with being "unkind" or snobs (unless you think that people who follow posted rules are automatically "snobs"). You were wrong, and we were simply correcting your misconception. No one called you names or said anything nasty. If you can't take some rolled eyes, well, I don't know what to tell you. :confused3
