Disney Magic still woth the money?

I just sailed on the Magic in September and had a wonderful cruise. Tangled is a fantastic show and Rapunzel's Royal Table is such a great experience as well. I actually prefer Animator's Palette on the classic ships versus the Dream/Fantasy because of Sorcerer Mickey.

And visiting the private island is so much nicer on the Magic due to the smaller capacity. You definitely feel it ashore.

All of that said I do feel $5k is high for 3 people but I suppose you are paying a premium due to there not being as many itineraries with both private islands.

We looked at the Magic itineraries that went to both islands and found those specific itineraries to be overpriced (even by Disney standards). We've been to both islands already so the itinerary was just not worth the premium for us. I love the Magic as a ship, to be clear, but I know I'll probably be able to sail the Magic at a much better price doing a different itinerary.

That being said, as mentioned above, one upside to the Magic is there will be fewer people on the private islands when you go since the ship is much smaller but the islands stay the same size.

The kids clubs are much fancier on the Wish than the Magic but...if your son didn't care about them then that's a wash anyway. I like the restaurants on the Magic better because they're more chill. The Rapunzel dinner is especially fun. I also agree that the original ships' Animator's is the best of the screen-oriented restaurants (I was not a fan of the Marvel one).

So back to your original question...The Magic is smaller, older, and has fewer 'extras' relative to the Wish, there's no getting around that. But it's also an elegant and beautifully maintained ship with the charm of being more intimate and very easy to traverse. My ultimate recommendation depends on how open-minded you think you are. You have to accept the price you're paying is for the visit to both islands, not for the Magic. If you can get past that, I'd say check out the Magic so you can experience something different (plus 5 nights is better than 4!). You may find you ultimately prefer the Wish but at least then you know!

We have sailed the Magic 4 times. Prior to our August 2024 sailing she was our favorite. August not so much. Food and dining services wasn’t as good. Just overall feel was different. Probably won’t be sailing her again.

That class of ship is sorta a supersized version of Magic/Wonder but with more stuff like mini golf , Aqua Duck, bigger pool. It’s out of Fort Lauderdale instead of Canaveral

Following because our family has sailed on the Dream and the Wish, but currently have a sailing on the Magic scheduled for the end of August and over Labor Day. My daughter specifically asked for the Magic because of the Tangled show and Rapunzel's Royal table.

I am curious to what you decide to do because we decided on the Magic () and are very much looking forward to it!

Yes i think we will like it.

Its a really expensive trip but thanks to DVC we can afford the stays before and after the Cruise

Based on what you posted about what you like to do on your cruise, I think you would enjoy the Magic. Is it worth it is very subjective. I'm doing a 4 night on the Magic because I only want to go to the Disney Island ports and I also get bored after one sea day and don't want extra sea days. I'd rather pay more for the itinerary that I want.

Your post about disliking the Marvel dinner - I agree with completely. It was loud and our kid asked to leave early as he wasn’t a fan of the Marvel heroes.

IMHO - the rotational dinners are better on the Magic than the Wish. But the Wish is shiny, new, and bigger.

Yes the Marvel Dinner was in our Opinion not the best. It was chaotic,loud.my son did not really liked it.

That has not been the normal pattern with Disney pricing. As has been the topic of many of the threads here over the 20+ years I have been here, many Disney cruisers have no reservations about taking their children out of school for a vacation.

But not to the extent other cruise lines drop fares. We did a week long Pacific cruise, Vancouver to Los Angeles in October 2019, off season, repositioning, balcony cabin for $625 a person.

I hope the Magic is still worth the money- we just booked the 10 night this July. We have only sailed the Magic one other time and hated it. But since the fantasy only sails to the Bahamas now, we are having to branch out.
