Just had our room assignment for our GTY room on the Magic Northern European cruise on May 30th.

Happy to get some pixie dust and an upgrade from 11a to 9b cat room.

Unfortunately the room we have been given is right next to the entrance to the Edge.

Some reviews online say it can be a very noisy spot with people coming and going all the time.

Has anyone stayed near the elevators Mid ship on the Magic Deck 2?

Should we be happy with the room or go back to the inside room we originally booked?

We were close to Edge on the Wonder, and we never noticed any noise. Yes, there were some kids who would hang out (as in sit) on the stairs there, sometimes causing traffic issues, but it didn't happen often. It's my understanding that they go over the "rules" with the kids in Edge about behaving themselves as they leave the club space, due to being on a stateroom deck.

Personally, I'd stay with the oceanview room.

I use those stairs a lot - and really haven't noticed problems or excess noise coming from that area.

After the first two cruises in inside cabins, we've been in oceanview rooms on deck 2 mostly and love the natural light and being close to the ocean. I would stay. If you are a light sleeper, earplugs might be in order. Or a white noise app on your phone or tablet.

I came back a couple of weeks ago and was in room 2556 on the Magic, right next to the elevators/the Edge. It was definitely noisy with tweens meeting up right outside the club. It was an OGT room, so I did not have a choice. It is not a room I would ever rebook. It was not awful and we still had a fabulous time, but the chatter/loud laughing went on (on and off) until late at night. That was my experience, I'm sure it varies depending on the cruise.
I really enjoyed deck 2, but a room a little further out would have been quieter.

Is your cabin right at the entrance to the elevator lobby? If so, it can get a little loud at times -- we've noticed it mostly in the dinner time range (before and just after our late dinner) not usually too late. If your cabin is even 1 or 2 down from that opening, the walls buffer the sound pretty well. We have had a cabin a few down and couldn't hear anything but when we stepped into the elevator lobby it was pretty loud. Of course, the decibel level and the number of tweens hanging out on those stairs varies from sailing to sailing. But if the noise is bad, you can speak to Guest Services, they will have the Edge counselor's address it. I don't think I would move back to an inside just because of potential noise.

We will be in room 2552 on the May 3 cruise, so we will let you know what it's like when we get back!
On the plus side, a May 30 cruise means most schools are still in session, so possibly less tween age kids.

We were in 2610 just 2 weeks ago (it already feels like forever!) - which was down a little from the elevators, but DD13 & DS10 spent 1/2 the cruise in the Edge so we were by it/in it/ heard it a lot!

Like PrincessShmoo said, sometimes the lobby outside the Edge gets some kids, but the Counselors were Excellent about keeping the kids in or reminding them of the rules. I don't remember ever thinking that it was unruly or unpleasant or extra loud outside the club

I would just enjoy the upgrade - have a great cruise!

Thank you everyone for your input it has been very helpful! we are going to give the room a try and if it's too noisy we will move :)

There may well not be a cabin for you to move to. It's not like the WDW resorts where people are checking in and checking out on different days.

We're very aware it may be sold out by the time we sail but we're happy to run that risk.
