I half-way convinced hubby to take a Disney Cruise next year :earboy2:

Does anyone have any details about the port day at Port Canaveral that includes a WDW park hopper? Questions:

I assume that they bus everyone there?

How long do we have in the parks?

How would we book our fastpasses?

Thanks!!

You can get buses to all the parks. Usually able to stay until the evening fireworks. Last year they gave out 3 golden fastpasses, good for any park, any attraction.

It's a long day. Buses are available. Some people do multiple parks but I wouldn't suggest that. We didn't get/have fast passes - don't think they gave them out on our cruise.

You don't pre-book FastPasses, as MK4ever said you get 3 loaded onto your ticket that can be used at any FP attraction at any time without having to pre-book.

You will pick a bus departure time from the ship during your online check-in. The earliest times we had available for all the parks was 7.30am, meaning you got to the parks around 9am.

Heading back to the ship, buses started at around 3/3.30pm, and left from each park roughly every hour or so. Last buses were around closing time of each park, meaning guests could enjoy up to 12hrs at the parks if they ended their day at Magic Kingdom or Epcot.

We went in 2012 (believe it was the first year Disney and/or the Magic went from NYC?). We either didn't know FP was loaded to our ticket or they weren't. In any case, we mustn't have needed them. Good to know for others that they are available! Thanks for the info.

I'm pretty sure last year's cruises were the first to do it that way, as I think the 2012 cruises were before FastPass+ and the introduction of the technology that allowed FPs to be "loaded" onto tickets. At least that sounds about right haha :)

Yes, 2012 was before FP+.

FP+ started around 2014. Before that you would have used the paper fastpass system.

Be aware that there are changes coming to how FPs can be used... that is, if it's not on an account that was used that day, the account could get blocked. I have no idea how or if this will affect people with APs and using the DCL-given VIP FPs, but take a read of this first edited post (as of today) to see if it might affect you.

Reading that made my head spin. WDW is way to complicated.

The DCL passes should work the same. The way I'm reading it is there will be issues for people trying to use FastPasses linked to bands/tickets that they did not use to enter the park. Provided the guest used their DCL ticket at the park entrances, they should be able to use their VIP passes and book FPs as normal without issue. On our cruise there were some AP holders that pre-booked FPs before the day, but used their DCL ticket for park entry, from what I'm reading it will be those people that will run into issues.

Not really related but this has reminded me of a glitch we helped discover. We did the NYC cruise and then immediately flew back to Orlando for another week at WDW, for which we had pre-purchased a 2-day hopper. On the cruise day at the parks, we entered AK using the DCL ticket and once we had access to the wifi we linked the ticket to MDE and picked our FPs for the day. The problem was even though the DCL ticket was the "active" one that we just entered the park with, upon entry into the next park it started using day 1 of our OTHER hopper ticket, even though we were using the DCL card for entry (obviously due to being linked to MDE). Cue to a week and a half later, waking up at WDW to an email saying "your FPs will be cancelled as you don't have a valid ticket". Resort management fixed it nice and quickly though.

That's the way I'm reading it, too, Ivan... I wonder what would happen if they went out and back in again with their AP tickets, though. Then both would be in the park.

Last year, we were on one of the first 7:30 busses, which arrived to the parks around 8:45 am, and we were literally on the last bus out of MK that night after the fireworks, arriving back to the ship around midnight. It was a long day, but we had such a blast, and had no trouble park hopping. They distributed keycards for admission to the parks. As others have said, 3 fast passes per passenger pre-loaded onto the card and they could be used on any ride at any time. And, FWIW, they gave us a valid ticket with fast passes for EVERY passenger, including my 10 month old, who otherwise would not have had to pay for a ticket. The ticket was only valid that day for that person -- but we had no trouble using his extra fastpasses.

My girls and I are going on a cruise with a Disney day in October. I am very excited. My plan is to go to Epcot first and use FPs for Soarin', test track, and spaceship Earth. Then to HS for lunch at ...well crud, while looking up the name, Starring Rolls, I've learned they are now closed. Sob. That was my second favorite counter service from all four parks. With the FW going on at Epcot I'll be missing out on my favorite as well which is Tangerine Cafe.

So I guess we'll head to Disney World for lunch at somewhere? And ride Pirates and whatever else my children are willing to do. I really want to ride Seven Dwarfs but after a bad experience at Universal this year I won't ride anything my kids won't.

I have no info on the FP's as we went in 2013 and they didn't have them at that time; however, we left from Galveston and WDW was one of our port days. I remember it being an early morning - around 7am maybe when we were first able to leave the ships to board the buses. If I'm not mistaken we were either assigned the times to board the busses or we signed up for times? Can't remember now, but we got to the MK pretty early on. We chose to do only the MK that day, but we were given the option to park hop.

I believe that the last buses left at 10 or somewhere around 10 - maybe even 10:30 or 11? We were able to watch all of the fireworks and were able to board the buses to go back to the port without feeling hurried. I think we arrived at the ship around midnight. It was a very full day, but it was magical!! Would do it all over again if they still sailed those sailings out of Galveston!

I'm thinking of starting first thing at MK and knock out the big ones as quickly as possible, trying to save the FPs, then head to Epcot midday and use FP for Soarin, enjoy the food and wine event, then head back to MK for the night festivities. I'll save AK and HS for visits later in the year. From my thinking, this would be the most efficient, but I'm always open to suggestions.

I'm not sure F&W will be happening then. Have you heard 2018 dates?
