Disney Magic Cruise - March 14, 2014

Hello CircleMMom! Thanks for joining us! Its fun to have another family to share our pre-cruise excitement with! So glad you're interested in the FE!

I made my Fish Extender this past weekend and hope to upload a pic to share here soon. I've gathered a few items and ideas for little gifts, too. I found a fun board under crafts (I think) for door decorations. My little guy and I made some of those, too. Less than two months to go! Woo Hoo!

So glad to finally see the thread added. Welcome CircleMmom to the FE group. This is our first disney cruise as well. The kids and I are looking forward to the FE. We have been working on our gifts & decorations for our door. I hope to work on our FE this weekend.

Finally found a minute to upload a picture of our Fish Extender. I'm not sure how life gets SO busy that it's hard to find 5 extra minutes to get to something like this. Doesn't it seem like this should be a quiet time of year? I think we all need a vacation!

Anyway, on to the Fish Extender. I tried to give the Minnie pockets for my Mom and I little ruffled / gathered skirts and then Reagan's (DS) pocket is supposed to have more of a Mickey look.

Hopefully it doesn't fall apart....

It's a wild combination of sewing, fusible seams and fabric glue....

Fun stuff!

Now I need to find some time to pick our Fast Passes for our park days. Is anyone else visiting Disneyworld on either side of the cruise?

Scrpbookr your FE looks great! Hoping to get started on mine soon. My family and I are also going to DW. We are going for 5 days after the cruise. We havent booked our fast passed yet either. Not really sure which ones we are going to use them on yet. So ready for this vacation

I was online last night to work on Fast Passes but ended up having to call as we were adding our tickets to our package. I had a combination of tickets with an annual pass and I wanted to use up some Disney gift cards so I needed "over the phone" help. All that and the fast passes STILL are not scheduled yet. The tickets are coming in the mail and I like the idea of the physical tickets to put in the scrapbook. The cast member did say I could go back online with the confirmation numbers, link our tickets and schedule the fast passes but that they would not mail the tickets once they were linked to the Magic Bands. So, I'm being patient while the tickets are mailed.

The cast member did mention the Memory Makers photo package on the phone last night and I have that added to our trip now. Thepacka ge purchase was on my "to do" list so I'm pleased to have that checked off!

Little by little we'll get there.

I'm glad to have the three day weekend. I'm hoping to play with Fish Extender gifts today or tomorrow. Teenage sons and Dads seem to be hard for me.

We're so glad you want to participate in the Fish Extender!

I'm keeping a spreadsheet that I update and email to each family participating.

So far SDYOUNG's family, the HDAVIS family and SCRPBOOKR's family are signed up. CIRCLEMMOM has expressed interest but I don't have an email with their info yet.

To get added to the spreadsheet please email scrpbookr@yahoo.com with your cabin number, names, genders, ages, and interests/ hobbies. Any info regarding allergies, etc will be appreciated, too.

Once we figure out our group size we can decide on if we want a delivery schedule (i.e. 2 or 3 cabins each day, etc)

I work at the school where my little boy attends and so far our school has had the week off due to MLK day, then snow and cold temps so I've had some time to work on FE gifts. I'm getting there.... We're back to school today though after a 2 hour delay. These frigid temps have me really looking forward some warm sunshine Disney style!

I went to the Arts and Crafts board this morning and printed off a fun countdown chain with little Disney facts to make with Reagan (DS6) this weekend. He was asking how many days left until spring break last night and I told him that I thought it was about 47. He said, "That's not long at all! After 40 days just one more week!" I wish it didn't feel like forever still to me...

This morning I had one other email from a group of 3 (Mom, Daughter-9 and Nanny) travelling from Nova Scotia that wants to participate as well.

I will get these added to our spreadsheet and re-email all.

A couple have asked how this works so that they can plan, etc. This is completely open to feedback and suggestions. This is my first time participating in one of these, too. But, here is what I'm envisioning. Right now we are a group of six cabins. We'll most likely grow a bit more. Let's say we get to nine cabins total signed up. In that scenario we would ask that you deliver to four cabins on Saturday and then four cabins on Sunday. We could add who your delivering to each day on the spreadsheet. This would distribute both the delivering and the receiving pretty evenly during the two full days aboard. The timing on Friday and Monday would be tricky so I think it is smart to stick with Saturday and Sunday. At this point we are each providing something to each cabin if doing a family gift or each family member if doing more individualized items. If we grow into a really large group we may want to split into two groups. We've been pretty slow growing though so we'll cross that bridge if we get there. What does everyone think? Any suggestions? How is your comfort level on group size? Can you think of anything I'm forgetting?

I know often the groups get together to meet each other, too. It might be fun to set aside a bit of time after the Sail Away show on Friday to say "hi" and put faces with names, etc. I'm not thinking a long period of time. Maybe set aside a 15-20 minute block as soon as the sail away show ends. If anyone has interest in this respond here and then we can choose a place somewhat in the same area as the sail away show to meet.

We participated in a FE once before. There were about 15 cabins and it was open to basically do what we wanted. We could choose to do one gift during the cruise or we could do little gifts each day. These gifts were either for each family member or one gift for all. Depending on what you choose, it can get expensive, so that is why I think it was just left open-ended. But we would be happy with whatever everyone chooses, because just doing the FE was a lot of fun

We are in the midst of back to back winter storms but I'm hoping to get into the office tomorrow and update the spreadsheet then. We had a very snowy day today and are expecting another storm tomorrow evening into Wed evening. I think we're getting all this winter weather just to make sure I'm good and ready for a warm vacation getaway!

Good Morning! I just emailed jly with details. We'll confirm Dream vs. Magic. I think it's a typo but would that stink to get all ready for a FE on the incorrect ship!

Our little FE group is growing nicely. I'm waiting on a couple of emails but I we should be at 10 cabins now.

Hi all! I'm Jen. Traveling with DH (Jeremy), DS10 (Brad), and DS12 (Adam). 3rd Disney cruise. The last one was in 2010.

Haven't officially booked yet. Should be able to in a week or so.

I would love to join in the fish extenders. We did them in 2010 and had so much fun!
